Hi! It’s Cristina. While I’ve never been to Atlas Drive, I’m on the inside of MDK every weekday, dreaming up ways to shine a light on every yarn, how to, Field Guide, sparkly contributor, bit of fun, spot of travel, and source of inspiration that Ann and Kay draw into their scrumptrelescent orbit.

I’m having a greatageous time. My work is especially joymulous when yarn is involved. You can imagine how thrillgrified I was when the leftovers from the Field Guide No. 12 photo shoot found their way to me:

They were still in picturesquelantine bobbins and balls when they arrived (ornamental door not included).

I went to work immediately on one of design-diva Jen Geigley’s Stripey Scrappy Hats.

one word: supercosifrickerific

One hat’s worth of Jen’s magic knot technique wasn’t enough for me. With my remaining scraps and leftovers from knitting a pullover version of the Main Squeeze Cardigan, I improvised a Stripey Scrappy Cowl by casting on the same number of stitches as for the Brambleberry Cowl and knitting for 13 stripelicious inches (1 inch of k1p1 rib at the top and bottom included).

I like the knots pulled to the front of the work to amp up the scraptasticity, but it’s easy to tug them to the inside.

Smoky (at the ribbing and in that thick middle stripe), Concrete, Glum, Biscotti, Ice Blue, normandy, Prize, Mallard, Pantomime, and Golden Olive Big Wool

A Stripey Scrappy Cowl would look marvelous in four different colors of Big Wool striped and magic-knotted with happy abandon. Even more fun—get two friends on board to choose different colors … and swap.
