The Color Explosion Throw combines marling and a simple knit-purl pattern in such an irresistible way. You’ll make four strips, swapping out the eleven colors of Rowan Felted Tweed as you go for a never-ending surprise of 55 different marl combinations. The strips come together (using a neat version of the 3-needle bind-off) as a throw that you will treasure always.

This is one of the most spectacular knitting projects we’ve encountered in our decades of knitting.

See Materials list below for Felted Tweed shades and quantities used for the photography sample in reds, browns, and gold.

We’ve also put together a Cool colorway for the Color Explosion Throw, in greens and blues. Here are the shades and quantities: 3 balls each of Avocado, Alabaster, and Fjord; 2 balls each of Amethyst, Celadon, Delft, Electric Green, Maritime, Scree, Seasalter, and Ultramarine.
