MDK Endorsement 2016
Dear Ann,
With the Presidential election mere days—hours—away, we can no longer remain silent. The people demand that we speak. MDK cannot be neutral on matters of such importance.
There is really only one choice in 2016.
Hand in hand, speaking with one voice, we announce our endorsement:
Clara Parkes For President
Seriously—wouldn’t that be great? Wouldn’t you sleep a whole lot better if Clara were in charge?
Now, we’ve all heard the rumors.
Don’t listen to anybody who claims Clara’s in the pocket of Wool Street. Clara’s no shill for Big Yarn—she hardly ever goes above worsted weight, people.
Come to think of it, Clara may be in the pocket of Small Yarn. She’s flock-specific by nature. But is that bad? The woman is downright Jeffersonian!
With Clara, there is not a whiff of scandal. (That smell? It’s lanolin, or maybe linseed oil, used to keep antique mule spinning mills creaking along. Calm down.)
Clara’s got the common touch. Next Halloween, it will be so much fun to see the White House trick-or-treaters dressed up as President Parkes, homemade biscuits and jam, and pie. Think of what her election will do for the Stuffed Sheep Toy industry.
We will become, once again, a pastoral nation.
Literally—we will spend a lot of time in pastures.
On Tuesday, if you’re waiting until Tuesday, get out and vote. That’s our real endorsement.
I cannot wait for this to be over.
Love,
Kay
Amen!
couldn’t agree more!
And you will be her VP, right?
Now Clara is a candidate I can get behind for real!
I don’t know, Kay. I think your endorsement of Parkes is a bit suspicious, considering you have admittedly acknowledged that she gave you the kit for the Big Flower Jacket.
Kay, how can we be sure that you’re not in the pocket of the BFJ ?
BUSTED
Love it! 🙂
BTW, when do we get the next slow-cooker recipe? Loved the sweet potato soup–may have to do that for Thanksgiving! Mine got a dose of cinnamon and ancho chile with a dash of nutmeg 😉
That sounds great!
Clara for President! I love it – she has my vote!
That would be so awesome !
“Wouldn’t you sleep a whole lot better if Clara were in charge?” Sure, we’d sleep better, but Clara would NOT! Dealing with all the headaches with Congress alone would be awful! Then what about special interest groups like the Polyester Powerhouse, or the Synthetic Fiber Syndicate? Those people are scary! If you at all love or care about Clara, don’t do that to her!
Yes please!
She would not be easily herded. She would be a good shepard. (ouch 🙂
If only knitters, spinners, crocheters, needlepointers, embroiderers (and anyone in other fiber arts
I have missed) were allowed to be in office! The world would be a much more peaceful place!
A skein of qiviut in every stash! Do not ask what your country can knit for you, ask what you can knit for your country! Give me high micron count or give me death! If we can put a man on the moon, we can banish tangles forever! And, finally, what fireside chats were REALLY meant for — knitting! (with apologies to those who are easily offended by really bad puns!)
Here, here! Completely support this endorsement!!
Imagine knitters at the U.N …..
I’m a Brit and would happily emigrate to any country with Clara Parkes as President! Please, my American friends, make this thing a thing…..
I would happily vote for Clara. Hell, I’d quit my job to work on her campaign.
Hear, hear!
I will absolutely vote for CP
The Parkes platform sounds promising…but still there are questions: How will she address the needs of the struggling silk and linen industries? What will she do to promote ecologically-sound practices among cotton farmers, cashmere ranches, and nylon producers? Will there be recycling tax incentives to boost rayon production? Where does she stand on “Machine Wash Warm, Tumble Dry”? What about that Polly Esther person? Who shot J.R.? When will we put a sheep on Mars?
I love how your mind works!
If elected, I promise to address all of your concerns BIGLY.
ROFLMAO
Finally a candidate I can support without an hesitation! Thanks!
Ah, this gave me a much needed laugh! I too, cannot wait for this to be over.
Love this!
A candidate I can wholeheartedly support!
Gail Collins of the NYT suggested that, for all those writing in names, to give Thomas Jefferson a vote. Sure, he’s dead, but nobody’s perfect.
I endorse Clara wholeheartedly. Though I don’t live in the States, I can say that we ALL can’t wait for it to be over. Get out there and vote on Tuesday!
I did get-out-the-vote phone banking last night. The same polarization we see on TV is what I found in talking to folks. Scary. Sad. Hope can be hard to find.
I see the demographics of those I called. It was sometimes shocking.
So, folks, please VOTE.
I did some of that phone banking tonight. Also a little scary. So yes, please vote! 🙂
Biscuits, jam, and pie all sound nice. However, I could be bought just with the promise of some of her famous “Claramels.” I would (temporarily) throw all Whole30 principles to the wind for homemade caramels!
I believe I read somewhere that after sugar, butter, cream, and chocolate reach 250 degrees they become chemically equivalent to broccoli. So you’re safe.
WHAT?!? No, No, Clara! Don’t start lying like a politcian!
Whew! OK, Clara for President 2016!
OMG, I wish I could vote for Clara! She would be the best! I sooooo can’t wait for this election to be over. Thanks for the giggle — I needed it!
Clara Parkes: Way Nicer than Donald Trump. Probably Nicer than Hillary Clinton.
I’d sleep a whole lot better at night if I knew Clara was President!
A friendly amendment to your ticket. How about Clara Parkes and Amos Pettingill as a team? Perhaps they could alternate the presidential and vice presidential roles, making excellent use of their varying passions.
I agree completely….what a comfort to see her words!
