Fun
Announcing: Our First-Ever Class with Franklin Habit
Dear curious knitters,
When we were dreaming up summer fun here at MDK, Franklin Habit immediately came to mind. His knowledge of all things knitting is fascinating, encyclopedic; if you have been following his Letters from Paris here on MDK, you know what we mean.
And you know that he is one of the wittiest people you’ll ever meet.
Would he be willing to do a talk for us?
The answer, we’re delighted to report, is yes.
Register now for this July 12 virtual event. It’s going to be great.
Franklin Explains It All To Us
The topic: A Brief History of Knitting Patterns.
In the beginning, there was knitting; and it was good.
Then came knitting books, and they were good.
Except they weren’t.
Please join us with Franklin Habit for a lighthearted, lavishly illustrated talk.
Learn about where, when and how the first printed knitting patterns appeared; hear the stories of the pioneering women who made their fortunes catering to the first generations of leisure needleworkers; marvel at spectacular examples of primordial errata; and experience the many joys (and otherwise) of bringing nineteenth-century designs to life.
Franklin Habit is an author, teacher, illustrator, and writer whose entire life is tangled up in yarn. As one of the most sought-after teachers and lecturers on the international circuit, he has traveled to teach knitters across the country and around the world; and has been a popular member of the faculties of many festivals.
Inquiring Minds Want to Know
Is this class suitable for beginning knitters? Yes—no knitting required, though of course knitting while listening is not only welcome, it is encouraged.
What’s the format? Franklin’s talk will be on Zoom. Participant mics will be muted due to the size of the group, but we hope you’ll ask questions in the chat, which we’ll monitor constantly and answer as many as possible.
I can’t make it to the Zoom session. May I still participate? Sure! Everyone enrolled will receive a link to the recording.
We know how many of you are fans of Franklin, so it’s a joy to bring this virtual event to you. Register now and you’ll have Friday Fun all set for July 12.
Love,
Ann and Kay
Hi Franklin! See you (virtually) in July! Tamsie
Looking forward to this, Franklin!
I would love to attend this session. Will the zoom be available in Canada?
Thanks, Ruth Ellen Greenwood
Definitely!
Thank you!
This should be great!
Great idea, Franklin is such a good speaker. I thoroughly enjoy his Sunday live meet ups from Paris for his Patreon followers. Looking forward to this!
This made my day! What an excellent idea.
Registered!!! Can’t wait!
A chance to hear Franklin is a joy not to be missed.
I’m so excited!!! I look forward to his column each month and love his Patreon channel!! I’m so happy to have another opportunity to laugh and learn with Franklin!
Looking forward to this
I signed up immediately, thanks to my friend Carole who forwarded your email. No matter how many times I contact MDK I never receive your daily email.
To my knowledge, they do not have a daily email. Have you signed up for Snippets? I get many emails from them, but I have received nothing about this class. I saw the announcement on Instagram – do you follow them? That would help too. Lastly, I have had excellent service from hello@moderndailyknitting.com. If all of this isn’t working, it is for some really unusual reason (like a hidden space after your email address). Having your friends look out for you is always good!
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!¡!!!!!!!!¡!!!!!!!
Ouì!!!!!!!!!
I see that the event with Franklin is being recorded so that those who can’t attend the live version (me-I’ll be somewhere over the Atlantic) can view it later. How long will the recording be available afterwards? Sometimes it’s just a week. I haven’t yet experienced how well eastern European wifi works with my device, and it will be a while before I’m home.
We’ll keep it up for several weeks at least.
Love him! This will be fun!
I’m hearing impaired. Is there any chance this might be captioned??
Hello Susan! This is Ashe, the virtual events coordinator for MDK. Yes, the live event through Zoom and the recording through Vimeo will both have closed captioning.
Excited about the class
This will be fun.
Can’t wait! Perfect for summer dog days.
Looking forward to this.
I still enjoy the book It Itches
I am looking forward to this on Friday July 12. What time will it be live?
Depending on the time I nay have to watch after work
