Happy Saturday!

The big news this week is: Marling! One of our most popular in-person workshops is now a virtual class, coming August 9.

Cecelia Campochiaro put marling on the map. Read all about this wonderful (and rare!) opportunity to take a virtual workshop with her, and register here.

(Please note: the kit for this workshop is truly special. We’ll need to close registration by June 28 in order to create the MDK-exclusive kit for you—so if you’re interested, please sign up now.)

All Aboard the Summer Camp Bus: Last Call!

MDK Summer Camp is a highlight of the MDK calendar, and a virtual event like no other—honestly, it’s a hoot. Register by June 23 (tomorrow!) to join us in the virtual craft hut, where we’ll all be making a raffia basket with exquisite materials, guided by the amazing Anne Weil. This event will be full to the brim with summertime joy and camaraderie—including door prizes!

A reminder for MDK Field Guide subscribers: save 10 percent on virtual events when you enter the subscriber coupon code we emailed you on June 3.

Meanwhile…

We had a big time on MDK this week.

Once for the upper class, now for the underwear: Jeni Hankins took us with her to a fascinating museum of the history of lace.

Even for the most joyful knitter we know, Dana Williams-Johnson’s latest project is over the top.

Pinkies up! Samantha Brunson took us behind the scenes of the wiggy world of Bridgerton.

She made his dinner parties so chic. DG Strong said au revoir to a legend.

Support What You Love

MDK is proud to be a snippet in the fabric (get it?) of small businesses and creative people who make the knitting world so vibrant. When we look at our accounts payable, we’re thrilled to be giving vital support to yarnmakers, artisans, teachers, and writers we love. It’s a daily challenge to make our tiny business go, and we’re grateful to everyone who shops with us for helping us do that.

Questions? Email us anytime at hello@moderndailyknitting.com, and you’ll get a prompt personal response from a real live MDK person.

Stay healthy, take care of each other, and knit on.

Love,

Ann and Kay

PS Please forward this Snippets to a knitter—we appreciate it so much!

A Color Explosion Blast

Please join us on Friday, August 9, from noon-3:00 PM Eastern time, for a virtual workshop with renowned teacher Cecelia Campochiaro. In a 3-hour Zoom class, we’ll dive into the wondrous technique of marling—rich in tips and tricks, suitable for both newcomers and old hands. Register here!

Summer of Socks

This summer is all about the joys of sock knitting, through Fatimah Hinds’s four designs for MDK Field Guide No. 27: Sock Odyssey. Suddenly, socks are super easy to attain, because we’re using DK weight yarns, rather than the typical fingering weight.

What a difference that change makes! Socks knit up faster. They’re extra cushiony and comfy. And with Fatimah Hinds as our guide, we embark on a fantastic journey of clever cables and intriguing techniques.

Explore the stunning yarns featured in Field Guide No. 27 below and in our shoppable lookbook, right here.

A Must-Have in Back in Stock

We’ve restocked one of the hottest sellers in the MDK Tools Shop. Here’s Ann’s post on why the Lilly Brush is a perfect de-piller…it just works.

Here’s a fun thing: we have 27 Field Guides in our collection—delectable, small excursions into all sorts of beautiful knitting from a who’s who of designers.

Make a Field Guide Bundle

Order 3 or more Field Guides, and save 15%. It’s conceivable to make a bundle of all 27, just sayin. Have a peek now.

Mark your calendars for Nash Yarn Fest, coming next year: March 14-15, 2025.

A time to celebrate everything we love about the knitting world, in a beautiful venue in the heart of friendly, fascinating Nashville. To learn, to shop, to be entertained, to hang out and make new friends and reunite with dear ones.

Above all, Nash Yarn Fest is going to be a party for the ages.
