Dear friends,

It occurs to me, on the cusp of launching our brand-new Field Guide No. 28 starring Norah Gaughan, to remind you that there’s a whole world of cute little books waiting for you: MDK Field Guides.

Learn log cabin knitting, socks, brioche, lace, colorwork, intarsia, marling, sequence knitting! Find out what plotulopi is. Field Guides are wayfinders for all sorts of techniques and ideas.

Our Field Guide series is a source of fascinating knitting from a who’s who of designers:

Arne and Carlos, Wendy Bernard, Ann Budd, Olga Buraya-Kefelian, Cecelia Campochiaro, Amy Christoffers, Karida Collins, Thea Colman, Isabell Kraemer, Julia Farwell-Clay, Kaffe Fassett, Carol Feller, Norah Gaughan, Jen Geigley, Dee Hardwicke, Kirsten Kapur, Erika Knight, Fatimah Hinds, Joji Locatelli, Hélène Magnusson, Nancy Marchant, Mary Jane Mucklestone, Jeanette Sloan, Ann Weaver.

Each Field Guide has three to five patterns, plus how-to instructions, beautiful photography, and inspiration galore.

See all the Field Guides and build your own bundle right here. When you order three or more Field Guides, you’ll save 15% on the single-copy price.

Our creative team, led by Melanie Falick, has created a world of great inspiration and beauty. We’re so proud to have this series available for you in print editions. They look so pretty on your coffee table. They’re the sort of thing that you’ll return to again and again.

(And yes, there’s a Ravelry download code in the back of each Field Guide, so you can add the ebook edition to your Ravelry library.)

Collect the set! We have 27 Field Guides in the series (28 as of tomorrow!), and each one is a new rabbit hole for you. We have written extensively about each Field Guide, so there’s a rich archive on MDK to dive into, once you have your latest Field Guide in hand.

Love,

Ann

  • The gift giving holidays are upon us. Could be a great time to introduce a knitting friend/relative/new knitter to the MDK books.
I really enjoy these books. They are small enough to carry with you, the photography and color is outstanding and the patterns are easy to read. Two pages are easy to layout on a copier if you really want to downsize your knitting bag and don’t want to rely on internet connections.

  • I always look forward to receiving my newest edition. – there’s something about receiving that little orange envelope/package.

  • The arrival of a new Field Guide is always a treat! Such cute little books! So full of fun and good ideas. I admit, I may browse more than knit, but the collection is there on my bookshelf for when the mood takes me!

  • Even before I knew about MDK, I found Field Guides for sale at my LYS. (Shout out to Acorn Yarn in Seattle!) So clever, I thought, and bought one. Now that I am a subscriber, I know they are not only clever, but really useful and inspiring. I am trying to downsize my subscriptions, but my Field Guides are not on the table! Well, they are on my coffee table, but what I mean to say is, They are gonna stay there.

  • Yippee! I love anything Norah Gaughan!! Her designs are beautiful. The patterns are well written when she was ahead of Borocco. I bought all those little booklets. I’m looking forward to number 28 field guide thank you.

  • I’m wondering if the reverse of your recommendations could be made. In each Field Guide, specific yarns are recommended. But what if the opposite would happen? If your yarns were listed with specific pattern and Field Guide numbers that the yarn could be used for, the guesswork for ordinary knitters would be taken out of the equation. I think more of your yarns and Field Guides would be sold.
    For example:
Atlas yarn can be used for pattern #4 in Field Guide #X, pattern #1 in Field Guide #X, etc.

    • That’s such an excellent idea! [brain cells stirring with how to make this happen]

    • oooh, cool idea!
