Dear Knitter,

Happy Saturday!

The glorious day has finally arrived! We’re delighted to present to you MDK Field Guide No. 28: Renewal.

Sweater season is sacred to us, so we enlisted the best in the business: Norah Gaughan.

Norah has given us three elegant, easeful cardigans—plus two smashing accessories for the instant-gratification crowd.

Read all about these brand-new designs here.

And pick your yarns with our shoppable, lovely lookbook for this Field Guide, right here. We’ve brought in lush new palettes that are perfect for these designs.

SOS: Subscribers Only Save

Remember, Field Guides subscribers save 10 percent in the MDK Shop. This Field Guide stars Jane and Felted Tweed held with Kidsilk Haze, so this is an excellent moment to jump in! You’ll have a great project to knit and a wonderful cardigan that’s ready in time for the first breath of fall.

More Fun Ahead

Our next great virtual workshop will be here soon. On October 11, learn intarsia with one of its great teachers, designer Florence Spurling. This virtual workshop features the beautifully manageable motifs of Florence’s stunning Elvan Shawl.

We’re offering a gorgeous kit, or you can opt to bring your own yarn and take the class by itself. Read all about it and sign up here.

Meanwhile …

We had a big time on MDK this week.

We had such a jolly, inspiring Zoom with Norah Gaughan yesterday. Grab your knitting and watch (or re-watch) it here.

The City of Light with its bra off, swatching for colorwork, and altering a pullover to avoid looking like a ham smuggler—all this and more in Franklin Habit’s latest letter from Paris.

For Suzan Colón, sometimes the joy of a knitting pattern is in not following it.

Atlas Insider Ashley Balding made a sea-swept summer sweater in one of our all-time favorite all-season yarns, Rowan’s Creative Linen.

Gussy up your coffee table: the launch of a new Field Guide is a great time to fill in any gaps in your Field Guide collection—at a nice savings!

Your Support Is Everything—Thank You!

At MDK, supporting and elevating the knitting life is all we think about, every single day. It’s vital—and easy—to support MDK!

When you shop with MDK, take a workshop, and share our content with your knitting friends, you’re also supporting the yarnmakers, artisans, teachers, and writers that we feature here. It’s a daily challenge to make our tiny business go, and we’re grateful to everyone who helps us do that. Thank you!

A Win-Win for MDK—and Your Knitting

We hear from knitters who read Snippets every Saturday—in their PJs! Putting together Snippets (sometimes in PJs ourselves) is our favorite weekly project—for ten years now. We never take your readership for granted, and we never clutter up the posts you love with ads.

That’s extraordinary in this overstimulated age.

We need your help to keep MDK free of charge, and free of ads. One of the best ways to show support is collecting the MDK Field Guides. Check out this nifty way to build your own bundle of these little books at a very nice savings.

  • I love the Bolin cardigan in the new field guide! It’s really hard to figure out pairings of the Felted Tweed and Kidsilk Haze online. It would be very cool if you could show some possible combinations to help us see what you think would work. Thanks!

    • Whoops! Just saw you did just that in the Look Book. I should have known you’d have it covered.
