You’ve Got Snippets: November 2, 2024
Dear Knitter,
Happy Saturday!
This was the biggest of big weeks at MDK! We were overjoyed to launch two projects that have been under wraps for a long time.
The MDK Holiday Shop
First up: our annual pride and joy, the MDK Holiday Shop for 2024. Bundles, workshops, crafts, and gifts, oh my! It’s the best MDK Holiday Shop ever.
Dive into the Lookbook.
Of course, we had a Zoom party to tell you all about this year’s offerings. The video recording is here.
A Cordial Invitation
And second: a whole new thing. It’s a brand-new membership, a year of fun called the MDK Society.
The MDK Society is our vision of what a knitting community can be—online and in real life. The benefits of membership are amazing—and there are surprises in the works, too.
We need you, and we will be delighted to have you—please join the MDK Society.
If you’re interested in our thinking behind the MDK Society, we share that here. The upshot: We want to keep MDK’s wonderful daily content freely available to all, without cheesy ads (ew) or sponsored content (nope)—and we want to focus more on knitting and fun and less on marketing. Your MDK Society membership will help us make it happen. Thank you so much.
Meanwhile…
We had a big time on MDK this week.
One plus one equals yum! Kate Atherley has praise—and timely tips—for holding Felted Tweed and Kidsilk Haze together.
Oh boy, Claudia B. Manley went there: when your handmade gift doesn’t land. The comments are a graduate-level course in human psychology—chime in with your story!
In our continuing series of Badass Women in History, we recommend this excellent documentary about the trailblazing Jane for whom our favorite long-line cardigan is named.
Your Support Is Everything—Thank You!
At MDK, supporting and elevating the knitting life is all we think about, every single day. It’s vital—and easy—to support MDK.
The best way, of course: join the MDK Society. And also, whenever you shop with MDK, sign up for a workshop, or share our content with others, you’re directly supporting the yarnmakers, artisans, teachers, and writers that we feature here. It’s a daily challenge to make our tiny business go, and we’re grateful to everyone who helps us do that. Thank you!
Questions? Email us anytime at hello@moderndailyknitting.com, and you’ll get a prompt response from a real live MDK person.
Stay healthy, take care of each other, and knit on.
Love,
Ann and Kay
PS Please forward this Snippets to a knitter friend—we appreciate it so much!
Going Fast
We’re down to the last few spots in Patti Odinak’s Nash Yarn Fest Getaway. Patti is an experienced travel guide who knows how to keep a group of knitters happy and well cared for. This trip is going to be a very special way to join the fun at Nash Yarn Fest, next March 14-18. Read all about it and sign up here.
Want to start the NYF celebration early? We’ve got your swag covered:
Kate the Great
Coming up soon! On November 15, technical knitting whiz Kate Atherley will be teaching a new virtual workshop on a topic that readers have clamored for: Reading Patterns and Charts with Confidence.
For knitters of all experience levels, and especially those of us who are proudly self taught, learning from Kate is a game changer. Read all about it, and sign up here. You’ll be so glad you did.
It’s a Hit!
We’re thrilled at the warm welcome our latest MDK Field Guide is receiving from knitters.
In MDK Field Guide No. 28: Renewal, sweater genius Norah Gaughan has given us three simply elegant, easeful cardigans—plus two smashing accessories. Get your copy here.
Take a stroll through our beautiful lookbook for this Field Guide, right here.
For a blast of inspiration, watch the recording of our jolly conversation with the one and only, delightful Norah Gaughan.
