Fun
All Hands to the Map

Dear everybody,
Hoo boy, we did it! In an all-hands-to-the-pump moment of unprecedented intensity, we made a map. An old-school map. A useful map. A hauntingly beautiful map.
Like every single thing we ever think is a great idea, it was more work than we thought it would be, and it was also super fun as a team bonding exercise. The team is bonded, OK?
We proudly present:
The Nash Yarn Fest Vendor Map

Download the PDF here so you can make it real big. And here’s a bonus: the PDF includes Insider Favorites: the MDK Team’s Guide to Nashville, to add local flavor to your real or imaginary visit. Organized by neighborhood, every suggestion on the list is a bona fide Nashvillian’s favorite hangout.
Everyone who attends Nash Yarn Fest on March 14-15 will receive a large printout of this map. The map is the centerfold of the Nash Yarn Fest Bulletin, a souvenir program with fun bits and bobs, plus a few surprises that we’re holding onto for the next two weeks. It’s the size of a tabloid newspaper!
If you’re not coming to Nash Yarn Fest, we hope that you’ll have fun looking at the vendor list, that you’ll see familiar names and ones that pique your curiosity, and that you’ll check out the clickable vendor list here. Click the links to get to know them.
These are all small businesses that are doing their darnedest to add sparkle and joy to the lives of knitters and crocheters. Shopping, liking, following, and sharing are all ways to keep good people in business, and our fiber crafts community surviving and thriving. It’s up to us to knit the good stuff, so they can keep the good stuff coming.
Back to the map. While every person on Team MDK pitched in, the Pete and Bright* of this operation were Hannah Jones and Emily Breedlove, who were simply magnificent. Kudos!
See you soon, in Nashville!
Love,
Ann and Kay
*Pete and Bright were, of course, the indispensable and only occasionally wild-eyed team of oxen in On the Banks of Plum Creek by Laura Ingalls Wilder. They did the heavy lifting, is what we’re saying.
Oxen in the yarn shop! Kudos folks!
Have to be in AZ that weekend, so sorry. Hope it’s a smash. I’ll try to make the next one.
OMG! It’s really happening! To see it in print is a dream. WE. CAN’T. WAIT. It’s super fun to be a part of this community.
All I can say is thank you!!! I love maps! I am so excited to join in all the fun and meet fellow MDKers! Anticipation is such a great apertif!!!! I’ll spend the next couple of weeks planning my “strolling strategy”!!
Thank you Hannah and Emily!!! I love a map and this will really help. I know there are certain vendors I really want to meet, so this will help me. Super excited!!
Wow Thank you. I am coming to Nash Fest and this will be so helpful . Maps make everything much easier and enjoyable. This will get a lot of use as we navigate the area.
A helpful and nice resource for the participants.
Lucky people coming to your fest!
Good luck , it’s looking great!
I’m curious, what does the “T-” prefix indicate?
T is for Truck! A small congregation of yarn trucks from the region, very thrilling for us.
I’m sooooo excited!!!! Can’t wait to celebrate my (age not disclosed) birthday at NYF!
PS – excellent LIW shout out! I couldn’t believe it when I saw Pete and Bright name checked
So sad I can’t be there! Next year in Nashville!
Power lounge! Restores, rejuvenates, I bet.
I absolutely can’t wait! A knitting extravaganza!!!! Counting down the days.
Brilliant! Though I can’t attend ,the map heightens my excitement for all! So many enticing vendors and fiber on offer.
Planning for next year.
Mary Rose
Thank you for sharing this amazing map with us! Love the Insider Favorites. And the clickable links for vendors. I so wish I was coming this year. Hope you have the most fabulous of Fests!
Do you have any hotel recommendations? 🙂
Hi Nancy,
Nashville is rich in hotel choices. We had a block at the Hilton Green Hills; the block is full but there may still be rooms and there will be many knitters there that weekend. We know that other knitters will be at the Moxy in Hillsboro Village near Vanderbilt. It’s a Marriott in the guise of a boutique hotel, with a lively bar/lobby situation for hanging out, and what we like best is that it’s in a walkable neighborhood with good food and shopping options. But truly there are lots of hotels and as long as you are in Nashville proper they are convenient to Nash Yarn Fest.
