Inspiration
A Brand New Button
Dear everybody,
Last week was a week for bigness and newness. For bigness, we launched the MDK Holiday Shop for 2024. We hope you find something you like, and get all your holiday shopping done early so you can have a relaxing festive season.
For newness, we launched the MDK Society. As we enter MDK’s tenth year, we’re changing up the business plan—wheeee! We hope you’ll join us on this adventure—more knitting, togetherness, and experiences.
There was one other thing last week. It wasn’t big, but it was new, and being the way we are, we are quite taken with it.
It’s a new navigation tab on the MDK home page.
See it up there, just to the left of the MDK logo?
We have an Events button! It’s like Christmas came early!
Click on the word Events, and up pops a page where you can see at a glance all the MDK events that are coming up. Click on the individual listings to learn what’s on offer, and sign up—snip snap, just like that.
With the way we’ve been ramping up calendar of virtual workshops, talks, and Zooms, we needed this button real bad. We hope you’ll check it often to see what’s new—we’ll be adding lots of fun workshops, talks, and other virtual experiences in 2025. We like to keep busy!
A Peek Behind the Button
Click on the Events tab right now, and look at the lineup of virtual events with star teachers:
November 15: Kate Atherley
You asked for it: Reading Patterns and Charts with Confidence, with a brilliant teacher.
December 6: Felicity (Felix) Ford
The helpful, joyful, forgiving art of bullet journaling.
December 13: Anna Hrachovec
Two words: Tiny cats! Our annual holiday workshop with the fantastical mind behind Mochimochi Land.
January 10: Patty Lyons
The queen of knitting hacks returns, with a whole new class on cast-ons and bind-offs.
February 7: Ann Weaver
Get into mosaic knitting with a beautiful shawl and an exquisite kit option.
We will be taking them all, of course, and we hope you will join us!
Want to get 10 percent off every virtual event, and in the MDK Shop? Support MDK by signing up for the MDK Society—the discount starts immediately and is good for all of 2025.
Watch the Events tab—we’re working on more fantastic virtual workshops.
Love,
Ann and Kay
Will it be an option to sign up for the MDK society early next year? or is it only an option now?
Is it possible to purchase missing Field Guides in my collection? I think I need one or two.
We will keep memberships in the MDK Society open into the next year.
And yes, you can purchase any Field Guides you are missing. Individual Field Guides are all listed and described here: https://www.moderndailyknitting.com/product-category/field-guides/
And here’s a page where you can fill in your collection by making a bundle of 3 or more for 15 percent off the cover price: https://www.moderndailyknitting.com/shop/make-your-own-field-guide-bundle/
I want to make tiny cats but I’m in Western Australia so I’m wearing my pouty face now.
We do ship to Australia!
I signed up for the club because I’m excited about the zoom podcasts you guys are gonna do. The Events tab is great: I can look in one place to see everything. Terrific!
Love this idea, but even when I log in, I can only see Nash Yarn Fest and then a bunch of events that happened in the past. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!
Weird…I can see them now, but it seems to be a whole other Events page. Anyway, answered my own question. 🙂
I think your browser had the old Events page cached! Glad you can see it now.
Will the Events page also have the MDK Society events listed or will these be in another spot?
MDK Society Members will get regular emails from us with upcoming MDK Society events.
If we can figure out how to get them on the Events page, we will!
Will the Box Cat & Bag Cat patterns be available for purchase separately from the workshop?
I found MDK in January 2020, a time of horror in Eastern Australia as bush fires raged and the news from Washington rocked the world.
Humane, kind, witty and inspiring, Ann and Kay and the mdk gang have been a haven of sense and care on this chaotic globe.
I am proud to sign up to the MDK Society. I send my best wishes to you all.
Steph.
