Fun
A New Little Place
Dear everybody everywhere,
Just a note to say that it’s really fun to see MDK Society members finding their way to the new MDK Society Lounge, our online forum.
The MDK Society Lounge is one of many benefits of membership in the MDK Society. If you’d like to join the MDK Society, here’s the place to sign up. You’ll get an email that tells you how to find the MDK Society Lounge.
My personal goal is to have folks from all seven continents joining in the never-ending conversation in the MDK Society Lounge.
We are up to two now, thanks to our new friend in Sydney, Australia. Glad also to have an Alaskan with us, which really extends that North American continent situation.
Antarctica may be tricky, but I know for a fact there are serious knitters down there so please spread the word if you know a polar knitter—we want to meet them!
I made the map up top just to see where folks are coming from, and it reminds me that the world is a very big place. Did you know there are around 20,000 towns in the United States alone?
So many places represented: Boulder County, CO. Buffalo, NY. New Jersey. Naperville, IL. Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. San Marino, CA. Johnson City, TN. Ft. Mitchell, KY. Buena Vista, CO. Central PA. Rural southern Minnesota. Brookings, SD. Sydney, Australia. Yonkers, NY. Boston, MA. Central Maryland. Cooperstown, NY. Norfolk, VA. Miramar Beach, FL. Ashland, OH. Seattle, WA. Oregon coast. Western PA. Minneapolis, MN. South Oklahoma. Chicago. New Mexico. Florida. Northern CA. Hamilton, OH. Oneonta, NY. San Francisco Bay area, CA. Portland, OR. Surrey, British Columbia. Wasilla, Alaska. Watertown, MA. Nashville, TN. Brewster, NY.
I’m already struck by the general cordiality of everybody in there, and it turns out every single person really loves to knit! What a coincidence!
Love,
Ann
I’m an MDK Society member, but I have already lost or forgotten my password to the MDKS lounge, and my computer apparently can’t keep track of two separate passwords for MDK. Can someone please send me an email with the password? I promise to Write it Down!
Oops, sorry, just found it. Apologies – I’ll have my first coffee now!
I lost the password. Could someone please resend? Thanks.
Hi there, friends. Looking forward to getting to know you!
My computer doesn’t want two passwords either! And I can’t remember….
Would appreciate a reminder – thank you!
email us at hello@moderndailyknitting.com and we’ll help you out
OMG, I didn’t know there was a Society Lounge! How did I miss that? (Oh, I was probably knitting or something!) I am going to spend the day lounging, I guess.
What? No Canadians? Yet? I blame our weak little dollar. I really want to join.
The Society is open to Canadians (and – for now – almost all countries). You can join right here.
I read through all the posts yesterday and enjoyed hearing from knitters everywhere!! Thanks for creating this space.
Brooklyn, NY in the house from Day 1.
Are there going to be special Society passports? Or a secret knit stitch? We need merch!!!!
Annnnnd … a membership card too!
And a secret handshake!
Society members get an enamel pin; it goes out with the Field Guide later this spring if you’ve signed up.
I am fortunate to have 2 homes. One in Asotin, WA on Idaho border, the other on Big Island of Hawaii – Ocean View-very rural Hawaii. We go to HI in winter months.
I am part of knitting group here.. It started 13 years ago. We have lost and gained members. Leaders of the group have knitted for charity, making money for food bank, dog and cat neutering group, and to help with home destruction after storm. It is alife line.
I belong to MDK society, but haven’t participated in lounge. MDK is a life line I read every am. Diane
Glad to have joined! Don’t forget us from Fargo, North Dakota! Do penguins knit?!!!
Somehow, “Society Lounge” makes me think I ought to don my pearls and grab a flute of champagne whilst in the Lounge. Along with my flannel shirt and Uggs, of course. I have been known to knit lace with a glass (or two) of wine to hand. In mohair.
You should see what I’m wearing right now, my Society Lounge uniform. Taylor Swift sweatshirt: check. Birks + socks: of course. No pearls, just purls! ; )
Hey, I’m here too! Barnstable, MA. Looking forward to it all!
