A Tweedy Sock to Love
Things got tweedy pretty fast.
When we started talking with Fatimah Hinds about what Field Guide No. 27: Sock Odyssey would be, she beelined straight to a yarn she loved.
It’s a DK-weight yarn with all sorts of blippy nuppy tweed thingies in it. It was a yarn made by her dear friend, Shobha Nadarajah, whose Serendiptious Wool is a hand-dyed wonderland.
This seemed like a good idea. Really good.
It’s called Agni T, and Shobha has given us a palette that makes us want a drawerful of tweedy socks.
As for Fatimah’s pattern, Cuff-Down Tweed Socks, it combines this yarn with your choice of six simple cable patterns and—because Fatimah is a constant innovator—stripes in a contrasting color.
These Agni N mini skeins are the special sauce for these tweedy socks. A dash of marigold, a pinch of blue, and all of a sudden these socks get even more delightful.
Sock Curious?
Sure you are. We’re offering a special three-hour virtual class with Fatimah on Friday, June 21. Sock Tips and Tricks is ideal for both new and experienced sock knitters. Fatimah has a wealth of knowledge and inspiration to share, so don’t miss this Zoom event.
Now that I’m back from my birthday holiday in France, I am sooooooooooooo excited about making socks with the new field guide!!! Ahhhhhhh! I really could have used some of these socks on the coast where it gets windy and chilly at night. My Englishman will be glad that I’m no longer pilfering the socks he wisely brought. I shall have my own nubly beautiful handmade socks for next time! LOVE!
I love socks and I LOVE the idea of tweedy socks with stripes! Cannot wait to work on this pattern. I was so thrilled to get an entire field guide on SOCKS. Looking forward to summer sock knitting!
I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO KNIT SOCKS! LOOKING FORWARD TO LEARNING ON LINE JUST HOW TO MAKE THESE BEAUTIFUL PATTERNS.
I’m on the fence about the sock class. Often I need more than one viewing. It’s usually available for another month, but that’s not enough time for me. I need to practice the tips a lot before they sink in. I need to refer back to the video.
So true. I also need to rewatch a class before I’m ready to implement the skills. My time is always limited, too.
