Announcing: A Virtual Workshop with Natalie Chanin!
Are you curious about hand-sewing? Would you love to have beautiful clothes, custom made for you—by you?
If so, here’s an incredible opportunity. On September 6, 2024, we’re hosting a virtual workshop with the one and only Natalie Chanin.
The pride of Florence, Alabama, Natalie is the founder of two groundbreaking companies: Alabama Chanin, and The School of Making. For more than two decades, she has been a visionary leader in the movement for sustainable fashion. She is also an unparalleled artisan and teacher of sewing, and the author of gorgeous and inspiring books, the latest of which is Embroidery: Threads and Stories.
More than anything, we just love spending time with Natalie. We’ve learned so much in her company—and not just about sewing. Her creativity, curiosity, and humor are contagious—an instant uplift.
Please join us on September 6 for this rare opportunity for a virtual workshop with Natalie. Learn more and register here.
P.S. If you’d like to virtually meet Natalie Chanin, we encourage you to listen to her tell a story on The Moth.
Will this be recorded? I won’t be available on Sept 6.
Hi, this is Brigitte Pieke. I have a small yarn store in Urbana. Small, but its there.
I love watching your talks, there is one with Franklin Habit and there was another one on the socks. I have your books. And I remember you from way back when, when I worked in the yarn shop in Washington DC. A long time ago.
Now, I am a little older and I am just open Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
And on Friday that is when your topics come up. It is hard for me, to do that when
customers come in. Is there a possibility to look it up afterwards. I do remember
that you did that with the mentioned classes. And I looked at it in the evening.
I registered for the sock class. But I did not get a possibility too look at it later.
I would be very glad, if you could tell me, if that happens for the Franklin Habit and for the Chanin Class. Then I could register for it. Thaks a lot, I really like your website and the books.
Best Brigitte

And this is why I love you so much. Always offering something that I have an avid interest in learning and now I don’t have to travel to do it AND it will be recorded in case I can’t make it when live. So along with weaving a basket, marling with Cecelia, I can dive into the Alabama Chanin way of slow fashion (that I have wanted to do for years). Thank you!!!!! Could not be more excited about this!
I am so excited about this workshop!!
The lineup of online discussions and workshops is just outstanding…thank you for such diverse and enjoyable events!
I am so excited! I purchased the Alabama Chanin scarf kit during a Holiday promotion, and due to time and confidence constraints, I haven’t started it yet. But now, a class with Natalie Chanin! I can’t wait to make this beautiful project.
I bought a poncho kit during the holidays, but I’ve barely started working on the swatch. Maybe it’s time to go back to working on it.
I don’t think you’re alone in having a kit, but hesitating to open it! I was there once upon a time. You’re in for a treat, and a slide down a wonderful rabbit hole….
I’m so excited for this.
Taking a class from Natalie has been on my bucket list and to do it from home is a gift. Thank you Ann and Kay!
4354321 what an amazing evening I am having; somehow, I was led right to your website. Please take this in the pleasant way it is said—–Finally! A craft website that doesn’t talk down to me. And to the point; no fancy visions of sugarplums dancing in our heads. That’s kind of funny for July. I have been knitting for lots and lots and lots of years.O.K. O.K. 78 years to be exact. One thing before we leave each other for now..I was never seen without yarn and needles, executive meetings, board meetings…yes, really. And then the Pandemic hit. I put down my needles for the first time in my lonnnnng LIFE. I have found some patterns and my yarn was put away, so I didn’t have to go far. Meanwhile, even before I begin again, I needed to let you know that I am looking forward to learn from everyone and teach, at the same time. And Have Fun. Marilyn Diane, Tucson, Arizona
