Felted Tweed was the first yarn I encountered when I started working at MDK way back in 2019, which was exactly 22 years ago by standards of weird-world time lapse. The color range was what grabbed me. So many subtle hue changes between each one—it can inspire you to deep-dive into a dreamland.

Enter these scrumptious swatches for MDK Field Guide No. 28: Renewal. These combinations of Felted Tweed and their Kidsilk Haze counterparts are all equally musing. One of my favorite things about color is the influence it can have on our emotions and our psyche. And each one of these elicits something different for me.

Celadon and Dusk: wispy and light. The opposite of anxiety (see picture below of a certain senior dog on her anxiety meds). Perfectly calm waters with a whisper of fog. A color combination to bring quiet. And we could all use a little bit of that.

Carbon and Hurricane: steady and pensive. A perfectly clear night with just enough glow from the moon. A pairing of comfort and introspection, falling asleep and staying asleep.

Stone and Rose: gentle and atmospheric. That moment in the morning when the sun starts to shed light, even if the only reason I’m awake is because a certain senior dog is ready to conquer the crack of dawn. Ultimately, a coupling to soothe and uplift.

Ginger and Blushes: Me, wrapped up in a couple of skeins (it’s in the name!). A warm and curious combination. Reserved but aglow. My personal favorite and a solid quarter of my official aura.

Treacle and Blackcurrant: dark and demure (and very mindful). Enigmatic if you so choose. Like a weighted blanket of colors, or that moment of complete darkness when I put my migraine head wrap on (IYKYK).

Colors can comfort, instigate, satisfy, and empower—a personification of whatever you choose. They can remind you of yourself in the past, influence you towards the future, or bring you a steadfast moment in the present. I’d love to know—what’s your favorite color mood?
