How To
Come Learn with a Beloved Teacher
Dear friends,
We keep hearing from folks about Lorilee Beltman. There’s a lot of love for this fantastic teacher.
In the two virtual classes she has taught for MDK, Lorilee has led us through all manner of techniques, tips, tricks, and cleverness. She just makes it all seem so possible.
Now, we’ll be welcoming Lorilee for a brand-new virtual class. It is the first multi-session class we’ve offered, and it also happens to be a fantastic bargain.
Hi Lorilee! See you soon!
What: Bang Out a Sweater Virtual Class. We’re all going to be banging out a sweater in March. It’s our favorite knitalong/stunt/group thing every year. To exponentially increase the fun, Lorilee will aid us in our banging out of this year’s official sweater. The project she’ll be teaching is the Crowberry Sweater or Vest, star of Field Guide No. 26: Moss, with designs by Hélène Magnusson.
When: Three days in March. Friday, March 1, Friday, March 8, and Thursday, March 28.
Why: You’ll learn a lot. Even if you already knit sweaters. We can assure you that Lorilee will bring us all manner of techniques, ideas, and tricks. And if you are new to sweaters, there is no more calming guide than Lorilee.
Cost: $99 for three three-hour webinar sessions. Field Guide subscribers save 10% when using the monthly subscriber coupon code. Yarn for the sweater is sold separately.
Register and a list of materials is right here.
We hope you can tell how excited we are about this experience.
This sweater is mwah chef’s kiss perfection.
The vest version is dreamy too.
Will the classes be recorded?
Yes!
Forgive me it I have overlooked it, but what is the gauge for this sweater? I live in FL and am thinking of yarn substitution since I could probably only wear Icelandic yarn once per season, if then. Any yarn suggestions appreciated. Thank you!!!
15 stitches over 4″/10 cm.
Although the announcement says the class is on “three Fridays,” the 28th is a Thursday. Really hoping that is an error as I would have a conflict. So is the class on three Fridays, or is the third class on March 29?
The first two are on Fridays and the third is a Thursday (the post has been corrected). They’ll each be recorded, though, so you won’t miss anything if you can’t be there live.
Thank you; very excited!
Looking forward to this. My yarns arrived and are scrumptious.
Are you expecting to have clover green in stock? Such a beautiful color and four of the patterns call for it.
Hi Gail! Yes, we will have more in stock shortly. Thanks for your patience. We really appreciate your interest—and we love clover green too.
Lorilee Beltman is an excellent instructor. I’ve taken classes from her at both Stitches and when she presented at the San Diego Knitters Guild. Even if you think you know everything, you will learn something new. I imagine this Sweater class will be terrific.
What level of experience in knitting is this for? Thx
Here’s what we think on this general topic, from the product listing for the class:
Is Bang Out a Sweater suitable for beginning knitters?
Yes—we sure wish Lorilee had been standing by when we knit our first sweaters! You will get the most out of the class if you are comfortable with basic knitting techniques, including: casting on, knitting, purling, basic increases and decreases, and knitting in the round.
I have a conflict on 3/8. Will there be an option to view the class at a different time
Hi. Will there be a point in time when the recorded videos will no longer be available? March will not work for me. Thanks
Is the color stranded work charted? Or written out? I have some difficulties with the chart.
