Elevate Your Gear
We’ve raised loving our gear to an art form at MDK. And we love to offer our favorite tools, bags, and baskets in the Holiday Shop. Without further ado, here’s this year’s selection for your ooohing and ahhing.
Revolution Vessels
Yarn not included, but we’ve got plenty of it here.
New this year and right up front is the Revolution Tray. We wanted a shallow vessel for nestling balls of yarn for color work projects, and Ellen Schiller of Hey Blue Handmade whipped up these trays for our MDK-exclusive series that includes the Revolution Basket and the Revolution Tote. A long spiral of cotton cord, stitched into a beautiful shape.
Serving suggestion: Revolution Tray with Watercolor Cowl fixings.
Knitter’s Tote
Another MDK-exclusive is the original light gray Knitter’s Tote by Julia Hilbrandt (who—yay, Julia!—just exhibited work at The Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show). Ann’s and my own totes are still going strong and looking marvelous with years of use and travel.
Knitter’s City Bag
For pared-down, hands-free toting: Knitter’s City Bag. It’s a crossbody bag, in a virtually indestructible industrial felt. Lightweight and can carry a surprising amount of your knitting and whatnot.
African Print Bags
Artisanship and graphic prints for your WIPs, your stash, for whatever you want to stow in style. Tammi Williams’s African Print Bags are going fast!
Bento Bags
We’ve been tucking our WIPs into Bento Bags nestled into our Knitter’s Totes and Revolution Totes for years, and now we’re sharing the joy of these ingenious and beautifully made carry-alls to you. They’re big enough to hold a whole sweater’s worth of yarn. Or a pie.
Tulip Interchangeable Needle Set
The interchangeable needles of our dreams are here. The bamboo needles are smooth and light, the tips are pointy. The cables have the perfect amount of slack. The joins swivel, they never snag, and they really stay connected. In a tidy, compact case.
Soak Basin Bundle
The mighty, redemptive power of blocking starts here. A handy basin and all six scents of Soak (including unscented!) for your every mood . . . or for sharing. Bottles of Soak make great gifts for knitterly friends.
The Most Joyful Gift of All
We hear every day from new knitters who are using our new book, Skill Set: Beginning Knitting. Looking for a gift that will give your loved one a whole new world to explore? Our Skill Set Box of Joy is everything a new knitter needs to get started: our exclusive, delicious Rambouillet yarn, excellent needles, notions, and a zippered pouch. We even created a special new Baggu bag to coordinate:
Our Skill Set Tote by Baggu, maker of classic carryalls that will carry it all—for years.
The City Bag is everything.
My City Bag arrived in March 2020 and it is still in its wrapper! That’s a long break from riding the subways!
“How will I use my Revolution Tray?”, you ask. More than likely as a cat bed, despite other intentions.
Design feature!
The Revolution Basket is my all time favorite. It’s perfect!
Wish the African bag had separators for two yarns. Beautiful!
I love including a bottle of soak (one of the little ones) when I give something I’ve knit.
What is the basin made of, please?
