I Made It with Atlas: Lounge Edition
We’ve got a whole new batch of MDK’s own Atlas in the Shop, and we’re celebrating with a pageant of Lounge knitters who have made garments and accessories using our super-special 100% Rambouillet yarn. Enj0y!
LeahDL and DWoehle chose Barn Red and Pear Atlas for Isabell Kraemer’s top-down, lacy wonder Elah.
Here’s Pear again for a cheery Tin Can Knits Snowglobe hat knit by LornaD. “Warm and not at all itchy,” she notes.
Sharleo combined Mallard with a steely yarn from her stash to whip up a two-tone Sea Spray hat by Jennifer Shiels Toland.
Elegant and easy. Natalie’s Savage Heart Cardigan—the grown-up version of Amy Christoffers’s Cockleshell Cardigan—knit up in Pebble.
The Brilliant Blue! Sara chose Lapis for her Calligraphy Cardigan by Norah Gaughan for MDK Field Guide No. 9: Revolution.
Designer, teacher, child-of-the-universe Nell Ziroli models her own Moonflower Vest in Pebble.
No nonsense Tutu. Here’s LornaD in the Main Squeeze Pullover by Jen Geigley from Jen’s joyful capsule collection for Atlas.
Stephanie chose Shale, Seaglass, Navy, and Pebble for a seaside themed Cuatro Wrap by Joji Locatelli.
Jacmknits got scrappy for her—first stranded colorwork sweater!— Cider Mill pullover by Jen Geigley. Not only did she work out the yoke from Scrap Tote leftovers, she modified the body for a boxy fit.
Charlotte828 writes, “I LOVE this yarn. Usually have trouble with wool, but this is so soft. The stitch definition is just what I was looking for to knit these mitts.” From top to bottom: Purl’s Traveling Cable Handwarmers and Fetching mitts by Cheryl Niamath. Both free patterns!
Toasty, electric blue toes. Mmouse15 knit up Lindsay Fowler’s Squall Slippers in Lapis.
We’re not kidding when we say we want to knit (pretty much) everything in this yarn. Fellow Atlas lovers, show us what you got here in the Lounge.
Encore du Atlas!
It’s Here! MDK Field Guide No. 20: Atlas
I love knitting with Atlas. It is the first wool I didn’t mind working with regularly in warmer weather. I just finished Olga’s Yabane Cowl and I am 3/4 done with the cocoon top in merlot and whisper. It is truly a cocoon of warmth so it will wait for temps to drop again just to have it in my lap.
I love knitting with Atlas so much! It’s warm yet surprisingly light weight! I cannot wait for cooler weather to wear my new Elah!!!!
So many great ideas!
These are all so beautiful. Good job everyone!
My favorite thing about Atlas is that it’s so soft I can wear a turtleneck knit with Atlas without a shirt underneath. This just never happens with other yarn! As soon as I saw Caitlin Hunter’s Ilya I knew I’d be knitting it with Atlas. So I did, and I love it.
I love seeing real people wearing garments they have made. There’s so much information about the patterns that’s not available in the model photos. In the same spirit, I look through the photos on the Projects page on Ravelry before I commit to a pattern.
Yes, Atlas looks beautiful! I’m very interested in its itchless quality!
I love knitting with it, love weaving with it, crochet next! This yarn is a dream. Currently dreaming of a cabled pullover…
We got one for ya, ML! https://www.moderndailyknitting.com/community/my-norah-gaughan-pullover-tips-n-tricks/
Atlas is perfect for making the larger sized Sophie shawls. I’ve made one for me and two for gifts. When it’s cold out it’s heavenly around your neck. And the colors are fabulous with a dark winter coat.
