A Long Time Coming

We’ve been working on this little book with Dee since 2020, pretty much. We met Dee Hardwicke in New York, seconds before the pandemic shut everything down, and our conversation left us completely cranked up about working with her. At long last, here we are, with this dream of a project now a reality.

Launch Party This Monday!

Our virtual launch party on Monday, September 18 is at noon Eastern time. You’ll find us here.

Six Exclusive New Bundles

We’ve done something we’ve never done before: we’ve created six yarn bundles, one for every design in this Field Guide. The yarn: MDK’s own Atlas, which Dee really loved working with. The links take you to each yarn bundle page.

Blossom Stripe Shawl. A band of flowers trails across a field of stripes. Love this. In two colorways.

Autumn Garden Stole. Sophisticated color here, such a forever piece.

Flora Arm Warmers. Fun, quick, a perfect welcome to autumn.

Treeline Cowl. We were gobsmacked when Dee showed us this colorway.

Cottage Throw. This is one of the most glorious designs we’ve ever seen. Six color stories and a modern set of motifs combine to create a treasure for you to love. This yarn bundle is truly special.

Climbing Vine Mitts. A quick project. Your thumbs will thank you.

A Colorwork Workshop with Lorilee Beltman

Dee’s colorwork relies on simple motifs and artful color combinations. It is the best sort of fun, and Dee’s designs are a perfect place to begin your colorwork journey.

So. We turned to the teacher who taught us so beautifully at MDK Summer Camp, Lorilee Beltman. One of the knitting world’s most beloved and sought-after teachers, Lorilee has cooked up a brand-new virtual class for both newcomers and old hands at color.

Please join us on Friday, October 13, from noon–3:00 PM Eastern time, for a virtual workshop, where Lorilee will guide us. In a three-hour session on Zoom, we’ll dive into stranded colorwork knitting. This workshop will be rich in tips and tricks, and suitable for both newcomers and old hands.

The project? The Treeline Cowl. Register here by October 2 to ensure your kit arrives in time for the virtual workshop!

We haven’t even told you about the gigantic knitalong in the works. For now, we hope you’ll have fun with us as we dive into the wonderful world of Dee Hardwicke.

Love,

Ann and Kay

  • I’m imagining the color combo possibilities for that lovely cowl. And looking forward to the Zoom meeting on Monday.

  • The various shawls and throws – stranded in the round, then steeked (in six pieces for the Cottage Throw, then seamed), or worked flat?

  • Have been excitedly waiting for this field guide since it was announced. Her designs are breathtaking! Wish I could swing the virtual workshop not in the budget right now ☹️, but will definitely be fumbling through one of her designs. Thank you so much!

  • The designs are stunning! Are any of them mosaic or are all stranded color work? My climate is not cold enough for the double layer created by stranded color work.

    • Hi Brenda! They’re all stranded. My strategy for stranded colorwork here in Nashville where it gets really hot? Crank up the AC! ; )

  • Dee Hardwicke is magic.

  • Oh my gosh, the stole and the throw are so dreamy! I promised myself I’d finish my latest WIP before getting distracted by the next beautiful design buuuut the temptation may be too great…

  • Someone essentially lend a hand to make severely posts I would state. This is the very first time I frequented your website page and so far? I surprised with the analysis you made to create this particular publish incredible. Fantastic process!
