Fun
It’s Here! The MDK Holiday Shop Is Now Open
Dear everyone,
With joy, we introduce the MDK Holiday Shop 2020.
Please get yourself a cup of something warm and settle in. For maximum fun, we made a lookbook to give you an overview of this year’s offerings. Here it is—just click on the cover to open it up and flip the pages to all our special offerings for everybody on your list (including yourself, of course).
If you’d like to get right to your shopping, here’s a direct link to the Holiday Shop.
Fancy Things, Simple Things
Much of what you see is exclusive to MDK. We’ve been working for months with makers and yarn dyers we admire, and we hope you’ll join us in celebrating their skill and creativity.
If you’d like to drop a hint to somebody, just download this Holiday Shop Wish List, print it out with your favorites checked, and casually leave it in some obvious place.
If you see something you like, we gently suggest ordering soon. Some of these things are in limited supply, and early ordering will ensure that your MDK box arrives in plenty of time.
Comfort and Joy
We know it’s early to be getting our holiday shopping going, but there’s nothing about 2020 that is ordinary. There’s much to celebrate, though: the peace and comfort of making something by hand. Working with special materials. Sending a surprise to someone you love.
We’re grateful to have worked with our amazing team to bring you all these special things. Ashley, Chris, Cristina, DG, Hannah, Janet, and Allison have all brought tremendous talent and care to this big project.
Thank you for making time for MDK. It means the world to us!
Love,
Kay and Ann
Everything is wonderful. I am wondering if changes have been made to the Kiki Mariko Rug or if it is the same as in your book? I think it is going to be at the top of my 2021 project list.
We made a slight change so the edges are nicer.
I missed Saturday’s Virtual Open House on Zoom @ 2pm (driving home from the mountains). Was it recorded and viewable for watching for those that missed it?❤
I love the fact that the Potholder Loom Design book is already sold out. Nostalgia is a powerful motivator!
I want to be sure I am right, that there is no kit for the picket fence blanket. We just need to do the math and order quantities from the pattern?
Hi there! It’s a bit simpler than that, in a way. One Freia Yarn Bomb and one set of minikins gets you a Picket Fence Blanket. Because the gauge is smaller, you knit more squares. MDK reader Katherine had the briliant idea of doing this and we were smitten with her blanket using a Squid Ink Yarn Bomb and a box of minikins in Neutral Zone (that’s the blanket in the photos, which she kindly lent to us). I’m casting on soon and I will surely write all about it as I go.
I am reading your posts from Australia and I’m wondering if your shop is open to overseas shoppers. I love getting Snippets every week and I would love to put in an order!
Hello, Australia! We do ship to Australia. At times during this pandemic, the shipping times have been very long–weeks–but it has been a bit better recently. It is worrisome to ship so far in these times but we do offer it.
How about us Kiwis just over the ditch? Do you ship to NZ yet?
Didn’t Ann make a non-repeating Mariko rug some while back? How did that finally felt up? I’d love to see her FO.
Love that rug! What are the finished dimensions?
30 inches by 40 inches. The quantities in the kit get you that, but of course if you are doing it from stash you can make it the size your yarn allows.
