All Reggae, All Day
Dear Kay,
It started with me looking out the window yesterday morning and seeing the thin gray sky brightening a bit, with the sun poking out and boosting the humidity—just the way we like it here in Nashville.
Off I went into “I Can See Clearly Now,” and I’ve been on a reggae loop ever since. You can play Johnny Nash’s original version or Jimmy Cliff’s less-produced one. They’re both completely amazing.
Devonnie Black’s got the same idea—“The Only Reggae Playlist You need for Your Sunday Cleaning Regimen” is totally fantastic. Of course, it’s going to be hard to sit still with all this amazing music playing, but I think it’s possible to knit to this music—as long as you make sure to get up offa that thing, and dance ’til you feel better.

I love Jimmy Cliff! Sirius XM plays his stuff on their Margaritaville station; it’s my favorite when it’s cold out because I feel warm instantly when Reggae is playing!

I listened to it a while back and learned a lot about the origins of Jamaican music.
Heh. Back in the day my husband and I liked different types of music. I was a Stones fan, he liked the Beatles. I thought his choices simplistic, he thought mine perverted. But we both liked reggae, so that’s what we listened to when we were together.
