Knit to This (And This! And This!)
Dear Ann,
It’s impossible to keep up with all the fine knittertainment out there. I will confess that I sometimes don’t have time to Knit to This to everything that you suggest, and I’m sure it’s the same for you.
Today is a make-up class for Knit to This.
I have culled the Knit to This selections for the past few months, and these are ones I think of as the Can’t Miss of Knit to This.
The Shrink Next Door
A sordid true story that is almost unbelievable. (Note: It’s not violent, but it is upsetting.) It’s shocking what this psychiatrist, who is still licensed, got away with, and for how long.
Kay’s Sock Rating: 2 out of 2 pairs, would listen again.
Yo-Yo Ma and Ennio Morricone
Lyrical, expressive, emotional. Two great artists working together to smash your heart into tiny shards of sorrow and joy. It will also make you want to watch all the movies that this music accompanies.
SOCK RATING: A PERFECT PAIR OF CASHMERE SOCKS THAT SOMEONE ELSE KNIT FOR YOU TO MAKE YOU FEEL LOVED IN THIS WORLD.
Ode to Trader Joe’s
Sometimes you just need a good belly laugh. In 5 minutes, Gary Gulman delivers.
Sock rating: a hard-wearing pair of socks in that spray-printed fake Fair Isle sock yarn that is kind of cheesy but so satisfying to knit.
LeVar Burton Reads
I don’t even like science fiction stories—unless LeVar Burton is reading them. That changes everything. A podcast with a never-ending archive of eeriness and imagination that will get you through a lot of knitting.
Sock rating: a cozy pair of garter-stitch slipper socks from a vintage pattern that has been xeroxed and re-xeroxed many times since 1972.
That oughta keep you out of trouble.
Happy Saturday!
Love,
Kay
These listens all sound terrific, but the sock-based rating system steals the show!
