Fun
Lazy Sunday: Julie Andrews and Alec Baldwin
Dear Kay,
In case you’re behind on your British TV binge opportunities, be sure to make a note about Bridgerton, a new Netflix series coming sometime this year (when? I don’t know) set in Regency England. It’s a creation of producer Shonda “Scandal” Rhimes, based on the series of novels by Julia Quinn. It’s likely to be bonkers, if you’ve ever watched a Shonda Rhimes series. Can’t wait.
Why do I mention this? Because Julie Andrews will be the narrator for the series, and I just listened to her conversation from 2015 with Alec Baldwin for his Here’s the Thing podcast.
Fun to be a fly on the wall. At 84, she remains a vibrant talent. Listen to it via this gizmo, and if the gizmo doesn’t work for you, listen here.
Love,
Ann
Fabulous. Julie Andrews has been a favorite of mine for as long as I remember. Whet a lovely way to start my Sunday.
I have read all of Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton novels. They’re a lot of fun. Can’t wait to see what they do with them as a series.
Just watched the new Mary Poppins movie last night. There will always be only ONE Mary Poppins, and it’s not the newest actress.
Thank you for sharing! Such a lovely interview — thoughtful, interesting & entertaining. Such a grand lady!
I saved this and listened to it today – what a treat. I could listen to Julie Andrews for hours.
And, although I know he has lots of his own nifty anecdotes, I do wish Alec would let his interviewees finish their own sentences!
