Dear Kay,

The internet has so many nooks and crannies. And everybody’s got a podcast.

We use Mailchimp to create Snippets, our weekly newsletter. (PLEASE PAY US FOR THIS ENDORSEMENT MAILCHIMP.) While cooking up a batch of fresh Snippets, up pops a podcast created by Mailchimp, “Going Through It,” in which Ann Friedman interviews women who are running businesses. In each episode, the woman talks about a pivotal moment in her work, where she had to decide whether to quit or to keep going.

Who hasn’t had that dilemma at some point?

I’ve listened to several of these at this point, and these women—smart, self-reflective, focused—illustrate through their dilemmas how integrated work and personal life are. What’s the line between them? There really isn’t one.

Completely excellent! Some of these women are extremely famous, others not. I guess that’s what makes it good listening. Everybody’s trying to figure it out.

You can find all the episodes right here.

Love,

Ann

PS MAILCHIMP WE TAKE VENMO, PAYPAL, SACKS OF NICKELS, WHATEVER.

  • Okay, I read the title and thought, “Oh no! Are they going to quit the daily newsletter!?!” This is the first thing I read every morning. I always enjoy the wit, education and inspiration you share. Keep up the excellent work!

    • Yup, me, too. The. Very. First. Thing. Every. Morning.

    • MDK is the first thing I read, too! I’m going to start saving nickels (my least favorite coin) so I can send you a sack.

  • I can’t help wondering why MailChimp needs our first and last names to send us Snippets via email. Please don’t tell me we’re going to start getting “personalized” Snippets: “Dear Ginny…”. UGH!

  • ♥️♥️♥️Thank you ♥️♥️♥️

  • At first I thought this was gonna be about how Shopify ended its support for Mailchimp’s API, and how that is really messing with a a lot of people (me included, harumph). I am now thinking about what I’m going to do with my shop because their ‘patch’ app is pretty buggy and slow, and not a good solution in IMO. Any Shopify users out there having this same dilemma? Quit, or keep going?

  • Have binged this pod. Love it thank you!

  • I read the title and thought that it referred to a large, stalled knitting project. Then I read a little further and saw that it referred to bigger life projects, and then thought of your blog hiatus of a few years ago. I’m so very glad that you and Kay decided to Keep Going with the bigger, better, thoughtfully monetized blog, and hope that neither of your regrets that decision. You are a daily spot of joy in my life. Thank you!

  • Thanks so much! Love this podcast.
