Dear Kay,

I don’t even care what happens in the upcoming movie version of Downton Abbey. Seeing the brand-new trailer, up top, is plenty for me.

The simple sight of Mr. Carson is giving me life!

September is coming . . . it’s gonna be 1927 at Downton Abbey. Can’t wait.

Here’s the site for the film, where you can enter to win a trip to Highclere Castle.

Love,

Ann

  • I have absolutely no doubt that the movie will be every bit as satisfying as the series was… which I must now go re-watch from the beginning!

    • Can’t wait to see this movie.

  • It does look lavish, doesn’t it! No hint of the General Strike … the only downer is that when it opens it means summer will be over ….

    • Love that last exchange between the matriarchs! Can’t wait for the movie!

  • Anybody notice the feather and fan detail in the Marchioness of Hexham’s sweater? We need the pattern!

    • Yes, and the yarn is beautiful, Can’t wait to see this!

  • I just sent the link to my Tuesday Stitch Therapy group. I see a field trip to the theatre in our future…

  • Counting the days!

  • Given American/British historical relations, how ridiculous is it
that Canadians are not allowed to enter the sweepstakes?

  • WOW. What a great trailer. Can’t wait til September.

  • Wonderful news! (Especially at this time of generally awful news….)

  • Cannot wait. Going to do a Downtown marathon in preparation for it!

  • So excited! We may even leave out yarn retreat for this!

  • We are equally excited here in the U.S.

  • omg-I’ve already watched it 3 times. Is it Sept 20 yet? I have been re-watching the whole series to get ready. Just finished Season 3 but I couldn’t bear to watch the last scene . . .

  • I CANNOT wait!

  • Swoon!

  • Mr. Carson! Of course, they need Mr. Carson!

  • Not much globally was happening in circa 1927 Great Britain, the stock market crash snd Great Depression are 2 years in the future. Perhaps Julian Fellows should have skipped ahead a few more years and have the setting take place later in time, the small children could be introduced as more mature growing children and Downton would be faced by severe economic troubles once again!

  • I can’t wait
