Live with Carnegie Hall
Dear Ann,
Rosanne Cash is always up to something good. On Thursday, she curated and hosted an online concert for Live with Carnegie Hall, Present Perfect: Songs of Protest and Memory.
Here’s the lineup:
Rosanne Cash
John Schaefer, Moderator
with Special Guests
Brandi Carlile
Gary Clark Jr.
Marc Cohn
Ry Cooder
Elvis Costello
Lizz Wright
John Leventhal, Guitar
Quite the bill. The live event streamed for free. You can watch the recording here.
It’s perfect for singing, and knitting, along.
While I was on Carnegie Hall’s website, I happened upon a 2017 performance of Joel Thompson’s choral/orchestral work, Seven Last Words of the Unarmed, and sat there and listened to it all the way through. It’s hard to bear, but not to be missed.
Love,
Kay
Did you watch the one hosted by Michael Feinstein on Irving Berlin? It was joyous. Song, dance, stories. And had vintage Ethel Merman to close out the house. “There’s no business like show business.”
Some Broadway sparkle even though the lights are out.
