Fun
Stephen Doyle
Dear Ann,
I’ve got a treat for you.
Stephen Doyle is an ex-officio member of my sewing circle; as a member’s husband, he is both pro-sewing and pro-circle. Stephen makes marvelous, meticulous art using the actual printed words from books. Since he is a graphic designer by profession, his hypertext artworks sometimes illustrate articles in magazines and newspapers, or make their way onto subway platforms in posters for New York’s School of Visual Arts.
In the TED talk above, Stephen gives insight into his process, shares images of his astonishing work, and sings a little. Enjoy, and be inspired.
Love,
Kay
Beyond cool.
Wow. Beautiful. Makes me think of an Einstein quote: “Imagination is more important than knowledge.” Will pass this on to a couple of artists that I know.
A better way to put it might be that Stephen Doyle ILLUSTRATES the Einstein quote very well. (The pun part is coincidental.)
This was wonderful, fun, and inspiring. Thank you!
Your Lazy Sunday articles are so inspiring! Thank you!
Now that is one fascinating mind.
Thank you for sharing this Kay!
So intriguing, thank you. Language is always a fascinating topic to me. Stephen’s ways to move language while separating and reconnecting are fresh works of art.
I studied many aspects of language at Emerson college in the 90s. I really appreciated this combination of language and art!!
I loved this!
How enjoyable! Looking in at a creative mind, loved all the illustrations ! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much! What a great way to start my Sunday!

Kay, thank you for sharing this wonderful talk and Mr. Doyle’s unique perspective. Wow!
I do love a woman who can find a way to slip “ex-officio” into a sentence! 🙂
Maybe not correctly, but I tried!
Thanks very much…inspiring!
