Dear all,

We’ve had a great time getting ready to announce our news that we’re teaching the fine art of log cabin knitting in the upcoming Knit Stars Season 10.

Meeting our fellow teachers during our planning Zooms has been big fun—it’s a pretty spectacular group. Legends and new faces. And the range of subjects is terrific—have a look at the full list below.

We’re being kind of noisy about getting the word out because there’s an early bird enrollment period going now that ends next Tuesday, April 22.

It’s a genuinely great deal—15 masterclasses for around $25 per class. Use the coupon code SEASONX to save an additional $50 off the early bird price when you sign up here. External Link. Opens in new window..

  • Beautiful pieces of log cabin knitting.

  • Congrats to both of you for being in the Knit Stars lineup! I signed up yesterday after having missed the first 9 years.

So looking forward to the classes, especially yours!

  • Will there be a kit for Clara Parkes kit?

    • There is a kit for Clara’s class. It’s available from Knit Stars.

    • I see 18 pictures with different sets of yarns, oh Jane is there twice – yay and there are 15 classes. So, choices for each class, yes?

  • Season 10 is going to be epic! I can’t wait to log cabin along with you.

  • Is the format on zoom, similar to your workshops?

    • No it’s not on Zoom, each class is like a movie that you download. Each class is divided into clear segments so that you can easily watch and re-watch certain parts, skip over parts, etc.

Very beautiful production, cinematography, and editing. I cannot think of anything else that is like it for knitting and crochet.

I love Zoom, it is so useful for live-format classes like MDK’s, but this is another thing altogether.

      • For example: they hang a camera over the teacher’s work surface so you get a perfectly lit, perfectly sized view of whatever is being demonstrated. It’s completely professional, with multiple takes to make sure the student can see what they are supposed to see.

Also we have never looked as pretty on camera as on Knit Stars, it’s just the truth. I want this lighting in my real life.

  • Hi!
I’m wondering if the number of squares generated by the yarn kit is enough for a blanket or would I need more?

    Thanks!
    Jaimee

    • I have done the math on this Jaimee!

You can count on 2 squares from each skein of Jane.

I used up nearly every yard of the 11 skeins total and got 23 squares.

It’s enough for a small blanket, like 40 x 45 inches after blocking, but a few more skeins for a border or another 4 or 5 squares would get you into a good-sized throw territory.

  • Can’t wait for the new season to start! Glad you two are participating. The log cabin may be the perfect way to use up the scraps I have accumulated. YAY.

  • Thanks so much for inspiration using all those gorgeous log cabin photos! I hate to pick up stitches as I’m not very good at it so I never thought I’d knit log cabin pieces. But with you both showing me how to pick up stitches and to vary the log cabin sections, I’m ready to tackle it with you! I purchased the warm 6 yesterday but now that I’ve seen more of your samples, I think I must go back and purchase the cool 5. Then after I use those, I can get more Jane to do a few more squares and a border. So very excited! What size are the squares?

  • Woo hoo! Just signed up for season 10! Big fan of log cabin knitting with MDK. Knit Kay’s Mitered Crosses Blanket years ago and loved every minute of it. Looking forward to another trip down the proverbial rabbit hole!

  • This sounds lovely but I can’t afford this even with the discount. Have a fun time!
