My creativity battery has been at 2%. But I’m feeling the pull to surround myself with makers who not only spark my creativity, but also brighten the crafting community as a whole.

I’m a firm believer in letting the people who bring you joy know how much they mean to you. I’m guilty of silently scrolling without leaving a comment—and as a social media manager by day, I know just how unhelpful that habit can be.

Today I’m dedicating this space to giving some long-overdue kudos to the makers who are filling my creative cup.

Whether your stitch of choice is knitting, crochet, Tunisian, sewing, or beyond, I’m confident you’ll find something to love.

IG: Krysten Grymes

If you’re on the hunt for gift-worthy patterns to stitch up this season, Krysten is your go-to. Her collection spans a variety of techniques, offering something for everyone. Plus, her incredible YouTube channel is packed with tutorials and inspiration to help you along the way.

Whether you’re looking to expand your skills or just need a creative spark, Krysten has you covered.

IG: Brittany Garber

Brittany’s designs are guaranteed to inspire you. Her use of texture is intentional and striking, with every detail reflecting her passion and the care she offers to the crafts she loves.

But Brittany isn’t only a talented designer—she’s also a dedicated community builder. As the creative force behind The Makers of Color Collective, she champions representation in the crafting world, ensuring that makers can see themselves reflected in the hobbies we love.

IG: Tammi Williams

With the holidays just around the corner, many of us are looking for meaningful ways to support small businesses in our community. Personally, I LOVE Tammi’s stunning use of prints—her project bags make the perfect gift for the yarnies in your life. To top it off she also offers beautiful items for your non-stitching friends.

IG: Shay Johnson

I don’t think my obsession with the As If Tee will ever fade—and honestly, neither will my admiration for Shay’s incredible talent. Her patterns bring so much joy, from stunning colorwork yokes to size-inclusive, dreamy tees. Shay’s designs are sure to bring a smile to your face and keep your needles happily busy this season.

IG: Yasmen McCoy

This next maker likely needs no introduction—many of us already have several of her earrings in our collections (guilty as charged!). Fair warning: I’ve never been able to simply scroll past Yasmen‘s designs without adding something to my cart.

If you’re looking for a ready-made gift for someone special, consider supporting this small business that has outstanding customer service. From her crochet earrings to her Pieces Of Me Pouches there’s something for everyone.

I’ve had the privilege of knowing Yasmin for a few years, and it’s been so inspiring to watch her grow her business into the incredible success it is today. What a truly special maker!

IG: Nkese Lewis

Nkese is a storyteller and her medium is yarn. Being vulnerable online is no small feat, yet Nkese shares her stories and projects with such grace that it feels effortless.

While she offers beautiful patterns and creative inspiration, following Nkese’s journey through yarn is an experience all its own—it’s a true treat that I wholeheartedly recommend!

IG: Teria C. (Ter-ray-ah)

Next year is the year I’m finally diving back into sewing, and, yes, I say that every year. But it’s true this time and that’s thanks in no small part to makers like Teria.

Her beautifully sewn projects and patterns are endlessly inspiring, spanning everything from clothing and bags to quilts. Be sure to add her YouTube channel to your list of must-watch videos while you craft—you’re guaranteed to walk away smiling!

IG: Natalie Thomas

Tunisian crochet has officially entered the chat! Knitters, you know I’ve got a not-so-secret campaign to get you to join the hook side. But honestly, I think you’ll fall in love with the fabric that Tunisian crochet creates even more.

One of the makers leading the way with stunning Tunisian crochet patterns is Natalie. Beyond her incredible talent, I’m lucky to call her a friend. She’s taught me so much about advocating for yourself and is truly one of the best people to have in your corner.

IG: Akia | Dr Charlie on Ravelry

Some people just have “it” and Akia aka Dr. Charlie Untangled has “it.” If you’re looking for something to watch, her YouTube channel is packed with engaging yarnie content. From yarn and product reviews to vlogs and inspiration, there’s a video for every crafter and every mood. On top of that, she creates stunning colorwork knitting and crochet patterns. I honestly don’t know how she manages to be so talented, but we’re lucky she does!

IG: Keira Wiggins

I had the pleasure of meeting Keira at Indie Untangled 2024. I was instantly drawn into her booth by both her stunning yarns and her warm, welcoming personality. A textile designer specializing in yarn dyes and color development, Keira’s eye for color is truly unmatched. You’re going to enjoy following along on her travels as she picks up fiber skills along the way.

That’s not nearly all of the makers who have helped me find my creativity again this month—but it’s a start.

My hope is that you’ll discover at least one whose work sparks joy within you, inspires you to create, and who you feel excited to engage with and support.

I’d also like to encourage you to tell the people, makers, and businesses around you how much they mean to you—and tell us about them in the comments!

And don’t forget: MDK’s Holiday Shop is full of wonders as well.
