MDK March Mayhem 2020: Neck and Shoulders
Neck and Shoulders. This is where knitters like to play. A shawl doesn’t have to match. It doesn’t have to fit. And it’s always the best place to play around with color, texture, and proportion.
Here’s where you’ll see trends such as brioche, inventive shapes, and a lot of fooling around with adventurous stitch patterns.
Dive in by clicking each pattern name to see more details over at Ravelry.com.
Round 1 voting for MDK March Mayhem begins on Friday, March 2020.
Here is the MDK March Mayhem bracket, so you can get the full view of all four categories. (Printable PDF here!)
Remember: if you love a design, buy it if you can. You’ll make that designer’s day—and you’ll have a tasty pattern ready to make. And when you order your yarn from MDK, you help make everything we offer—how tos, inspiration, fun, diversions of every sort—possible.
Can’t wait to cast on? Neither can we! Join us over in the MDK Lounge, where we’re knitting patterns from this and previous March Mayhems, together, in a never-ending virtual knit night.
Here, listed in alphabetical order by designer’s last name, are 16 wraps, scarves, and cowls that really jump out at us as Truly Brilliant Designs.

Wow! I picked out a couple of beauties here that I hadn’t seen before. Now I need to find the time to knit. Even though I am now on full-time telework are we ever busy! Once the coronavirus relief legislation passes things will really get crazy!
Perhaps I should put my sweater-in-progress aside and concentrate on smaller immediate gratification projects. Because after all, it’s all about the knitting here!
Thanks! So many beautiful projects that I want to knit.
I could seriously not, not pick each and every one of these, they’re all exquisite.
Wow, I love March Mayhem! So many pretty new knits in my queue! But it’s going to be very, very hard to make a decision in this category!
You guys!! HOW is a person supposed to pick favorites out of this collection of beauty!? It’ll be impossible!
I just love MDK Madness! These pieces demonstrate so much creativity! They are inspiring, and their intriguing designs push me to learn new techniques and work out for myself how they are made! Positivity is calling to me!
Too many great patterns – decided to begin modestly with HeartWarmer! Such a fun combo of stitches. Thanks for the opportunity to be a part of this grand community.
I first saw the Snuggle is Real as a sample at the Sprigs and Stone yarn booth knit in merino yak, lined with alpaca silk, and I’m pretty sure I swooned.
Each of these are stunners – and of course I want to get each one on my needles!
I want to make them ALL! 😀
