Fun
So Long, Karidalong!
If the knitalong were a unit of time, it would be one that goes really, really fast. We’ve had a blast knitting Karida Collins’s simply stunning designs for MDK Field Guide No. 18: Beginnings, and we’ve had terrific company all the way. Thank you to everyone who jumped in and knit with us.
All good things must (officially) end, but a proper knitalong is forever. If you’re still working on your Karidalong project, or if you haven’t even cast it on just yet, don’t worry: We will be thrilled to see your projects in their own sweet time. We’ll be enjoying Karida’s timeless designs, and her stunning Organic Studio line of yarns, far into the future.
And now, it’s time for our final round of prize winners.
Prizes Finale!
Martha’s pup Woody models her Everyday Cowlette, which lands jauntily on his shoulder. The yarn: Organic Studio Chunky, in the shade Oliver.
Linda’s Debut Pullover, in Organic Studio DK in Cedonia, shows off the slightly ruched effect of the swirly yoke stitchwork.
From Beth, another fantastic Debut Pullover, this time in Vrinda Shakti DK (now Laneras Deseos DK) in a shade that provides great cover for a knitting needle.
Knitalongs bring delightful surprises. For her Simple Swoncho, Jenn used sets of Jill Draper’s Windham Mini-skeins to joyful effect. We hope to see this one being worn in the wild!
More knitterly invention: MC knit up this striped version of the Diagonal Mitts and added a picot edge, to make the perfect Pride present for a beloved niece.
What are the Prizes?
Each winner will receive a Ballband Thermal Mug and Metallic Pouch in the happy mail soon, so they can accessorize in the finest MDK swag style. We think this set nails the office-to-evening versatility we used to read about in magazines, back when there were offices and evenings to dress for.
Stay with us! Keep knitting and posting your MDK projects to Instagram with the #mymdk tag and in the MDK Lounge! We love to see Field Guide projects out in the world looking fabulous.
Every field guide offers so much. Can’t wait for the next one to arrive.
Every project is a marvel. Well done!! My dog, Buttons, wants an Everyday Cowlete now…
Thanks so much! It was fun to knit quick through the debut pattern (August heat sped me along) learning some tips, tricks and alterations throughout. Thanks to the Lounge for the support too, so reassuring!
Congratulations to all the prize winners! Beautiful knitting by all❤
Thank you so much!!! I am wearing my stripey Simple Swoncho today as it’s 60 degrees outside (and not much warmer inside my school). It feels like a giant squishy hug.
Congratulations to all for your beautiful projects! That swoncho though
Congratulations to the winners!
Loving all the projects but that swoncho … I don’t know if it’s just me but that just rocks my boat!
Woody should be hired as a pro model!
field book number 11 Wanderlust is my constant companion as I knit socks. I have been knitting socks for over 60 years. It is so handy to have everything in one small totable booklet.
I love hearing that you have been knitting socks for sixty years. It warms my heart and gives me comfort and more. Beautiful legacy too.
Recently my knitting has taken back seat in my life and today after seeing the desired work finished by others I going to find the yarn best suited for my projects of choice and get back into the thing I ❤️ and has helped me through some awful times and introduced me to many new people and friends THANKS !!!
What a delightful surprise to see I won a prize for a fun knitted project. I have recently added a hat to match with a picot edge.
I have three Colette’s and two sets of mitts I’ve yet to properly post. Gonna get to that and share the joy!
Cowlettes. Dang autocorrect.
