Staycation! Take a Trip with Us
Ah, Friday, the culmination of a week of easy-peasy, find-the-fun-at-home, hunker-down-and-chill-out Staycation.
We have a long tradition of exploring faraway places through a series of posts called Knitter’s Weekends. We will never get to all the amazing places we’d like to see, so we count on our intrepid writers to take us along with them.
Today, let’s head out for some truly spectacular places with the guides who understand what a knitter loves to see.
Austen Gilliland’s romp through Toronto.
Taos, New Mexico through the eyes of Cyndi Lee.
Sonya Philip’s insider’s guide to her home town of San Francisco.
New Orleans with ace photographer Gale Zucker.
Cirilia Rose’s Seattle.
Donegal, Ireland with Albina McLaughlin.
Dianna Walla’s ramble through Oslo, Norway.
There are dozens more journeys to take in our Travel Department—have a look, and enjoy the scenery!
Staycation Souvenir Shop Open Through Sunday
Today we add three best sellers to our superspecial Staycation sale:
The idea, of course, is to set you up for the moment when you are heading out the door on your next non-virtual adventure. These are all terrific companions, MDK exclusives all, and they are all so sturdy that they will outlast the pyramids of Egypt.
Which, of course, we should all go see with our new bags in hand.
Please note that all the week’s Staycation specials can be seen on the MDK Sale page. Savings will be in place through Sunday night, so definitely take a spin through the possibilities before then.
Thanks for spending the week with us! I hope it’s been a chance to relax a bit, get your knit on, and remember the simple joys of your own home.
Lockdown in Australia again this weekend, thank you for such delightful pictorial travel romps. I’m hoping I can make it to Shetland for the Folk Festival and of course, fibre/knitting, in the next couple of years.
I’m hoping I can go to Sewanee, Tenn next June!
Great photos. Makes me want to travel.
Unfortunately The Purple Purl closed August 2019. There is an amazing yarn shop that is not included on this list(it opened around October 2018) called The Knitting Loft. Lots of great yarn shops here!
In Toronto!
Thank you for the heads up! I’m so sorry to hear it closed. But glad to hear The Knitting Loft has opened.
I haven’t read the article yet but the look on Anns’ face says it all 🙂
Each one of these locations is a delight to be hold. The authors of the staycations did a moral his job covering my favorite topics. Let’s see… Food, books, knitting, weaving, historical places, places to stay, and the list goes on! Thank you so much for livening our days as we keep each other safe and count our many blessings.
Marvelous job covering…
Rhinebeck! I want to do Rhinebeck!
