Pattern Scout
The Ultimate Pattern Scout
Sometimes, for a truly special occasion, you have to go the whole nine yards—or in this case, thousands of yards of our brand-new British wool yarn, Jane.
In an attempt to do justice to Jane’s incredible versatility, wearability, and beauty, we had patterns by favorite independent designers knitted up in Jane. Earlier this year, under the leadership of Allison “The General” Volek Shelton, bundles of Jane went out to a hand-picked corps of intrepid sample knitters.
Weeks later, as finished knits began rolling into MDK World Headquarters, we were awestruck. Jane really is all that! We couldn’t be prouder, or more excited.
See for yourself:

Bold prediction: you’re going to want to cast on one or more of these gems immediately. The lookbook makes it easy: it gives pattern links plus Jane skein quantities for all sizes.
Come on in, the Jane is fine! We can’t wait to hear how you’re getting along with her.
Roll Credits!

Everything in the Lookbook is so dreamy. I can’t wait to knit with Jane.
Sadly, I’m traveling and whatever flipsnack is (part of the url) it is blocked. Can’t see it.
Sorry about that. That is the first time we’ve heard of this happening. I wonder if it could be some kind of browser setting issue. Flipsnack is just a platform that makes things into the form of a book that you can flip through, which is handy.
Looks wonderful!
Such a Fantastic & inspiring production, delicious looking fiber with such gorgeous colorways! Bravo!!!
Jane is scrumptious. But the helpful fact sheets are winners, too. I think deciding on colors may be wasted time…it’s ALL THE COLORS! Rearranging my budget…be back in a little bit.
You know Beverly, there really aren’t THAT many colors. Save time and knit them all lol.
I’m on it!
Oooooh! The colors! The possibilities! Very enticing.
Great inspiration in flip book! Yarn looks gorgeous and wonderful colors!
Absolutely gorgeous samples.
WowWowWow!
… and just when I thought I had my S.T.A.B.L.E.* yarn stash under control, here y’all go again with super fun patterns and the perfect new yarn to create with! Cool!
(*Stash Threshhold Above Life Expectancy)
Anne, that acronym is brilliant! I may need to create a sign to put above my stash(es).
I love this Lookbook! The patterns really showcase Jane and are so beautifully executed. So inspiring. Wondering if the Lookbook can be easily found on MDK website because I know I will lose track of the email with the link. Thank you for making such a beautiful yarn and extra helpful Lookbook.
We will post it a lot in the days to come, you can also bookmark this post and it will be saved in your MDK account for future reference. Oh! Here’s an idea! We can link to it in the Jane product listing. And yes, I’ve only been doing this for 8 years lol.
Gorgeous! I didn’t want your lookbook to end. Brilliant colour combinations!
Loved your credits.
This is a FANTASTIC roll out! Watched the vimeo of the talk and now the lookbook… it’s all so enticing and what hard work with gorgeous results. I too am leaving town–tomorrow, until November (lucky me, France…) with my 6 cones of Ito Kinu from the color explosion class. This is getting to be a little like heroin, just sayin’…
Kudos to all who made Jane happen and hope there’s some left to buy (well, hope you are starting a second run) when I return to the U.S.
WHAT A COLLECTION!!! Color. Beautiful yarn. Stunning designs. Outstanding!
Jane yarn absolutely gorgeous. Kudos for the best roll out ever!
Kudos on a beautiful new yarn and gorgeous look book. All the patterns you chose to highlight Jane are ones I would love to knit. You continue to hit it out of the park!
This is beautiful yarn! You have outdone yourselves. Except for Atlas, of course!
Gorgeous samples! A wonderful lookbook –
So many beautiful projects. Wow! It is going to be hard to pick which one to make first. Gorgeous, just gorgeous.
LOVE the cookbook… that pumpkin colored tee really shows off the subtle variation in the blend of the yarn. It’s totally not my color but it makes me fall in love with the possibilities for the yarn. A friend asks how I can possibly knit boring stockinette so often, but those are the tops I wear All. The. Time! And the liveliness this blend in the wool makes is fantastic…can’t wait to fondle and squish “in the real!”
Oh for pete’s sake…why does autocorrect dash in during the “send” moment… LOOKbook not cookbook! Eye Roll!
Now you’ve got me thinking of a Pumpkin Pie? Spice? Cookbook Lookbook … Is it Fall yet? 😉
You have outdone yourselves in choosing this beautiful yarn . If not for the fact that I am in the process of changing banks and I have nothing but cash on hand, the Yoke Sweater with the numerous colors would be my favorite purchase. So excited !
Love.
Love that Jane is a DK weight. Every single pattern is intriguing!
Where’s the dark denim blue, Kay?
So inspiring. See Jane go!!!!!!
Stunning yarn. Like the wish come true that I never knew I had. Love that you have purple-y (actually fuschia?) but all the colors are wonderful. Also travelling so will have to wait till I come back to order (if there is anything left!) Love that Teti Lutsak was represented. She has recently been a new discovery for me.
Aubergine…yup, purple! And all the beautiful garments. I’m not a Marigold person but I actually love the Halibut sweater in those colors!
Holy Cow!!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!!
The patterns in the Jane lookbook are all so lovely! And Jane herself is so very tempting.
OMG so many I want to make. Do I make for gifts or be self?? Such a delemna. Where do I begin??
Beautiful and unique pattern designs.
Wowza!! Simply amazing!
So hard to decide between SSP and Winter Suns Shawls. I think the large version of Winter Suns wins. Because I’m named Jane after my mother’s best friend, the ultimate crafter, I NEED this yarn.
I’m a handspinner and don’t buy commercial yarn, but I follow you all for the patterns you share. Next on my list to make are the Livresque cardigan and the Paul Klee sweater. I have LOTS of small batches of handspun in lovely colors that will be perfect for the stripes and squares. Thanks so much!
I recently received an email from Modern Knitting that I had won some Jane and to submit my address for the shipping. Was this legitimate? The email said it came from Modern Daily Knitting.
It sure did come from us! We’d love to get your prize to you!
