Dear everybody,
I have been receiving the occasional email, Tweet, and Instagram from Kay in recent days, but something is definitely UP. She keeps using words like “office carpet” and “salad for lunch” and even the word cubicle NOT in reference to a knitted blanket.
The good news is that she HAS been sending along photos of handknits in progress, namely Volume 2 in her four-volume series called Icelandic Sweaters For The Entire Family Literally.
Girl can lay down a stockinette no matter what the circumstances. This is a second iteration of the Riddari pattern that she finished a couple of weeks back. (Search our archives! It’s in there!)
Loving the murkiness of that yoke. I am craving something of this gauge at the moment. I’m frankly craving anything of any gauge other than the gauge I’m currently working.
Beautiful! Done! She’s a regular Rumpelstiltskin of the yoked sweater!
She writes: “It gets longer after you wash it, more tunicky. This pattern is not new but you can get it in the new Knitting With Icelandic Wool book, which is handy.”
Here’s hoping she resurfaces soon. I’m getting a little twitchy about all this.
Love, Happy Friday, and see ya in the break room for Donna’s birthday cake,
Ann
You’re both amazing with the fancy-type sweaters! Hope Kay surfaces soon and can do some more lightning-round blogging.
Ewwwwwwww, Kay, please don’t tell me you went out and got an 8 to 5 regular ole day JOB?! This is going to be a problem if it interfers with your #1 priority (okay #2 after kiddos) of knitting, blogging/tweating about knitting. The rest of us live vicariously through you . . . while I’m toiling at my desk, I often think of you at some grand location in NYC with cashmere on your needles!
Well, I hope the gin is ready for when she does resurface. And what does Olive think?
Yes, paying jobs really do eat away at your knitting time!
Knitters do not EVER belong in cubicles. (Actually I suspect no humans belong in cubicles.) Good luck, Kay. I hope the cubicle doesn’t sap your strength and drain your creativity. And, Ann, blogging for two will be hard, but I’m sure you can do it! After all, your 4-year project is just about done. Anyone who could do that can do anything!
Shoot. I forgot to bring in Donna’s card. Isn’t that always the way??
The coloration of that Riddari reminds me of a snowy owl. Excellent choice.

Be sure to let Ann know that she can blog over her lunch hour. (Not that I’ve ever managed to do that, but she’s definitely a better blogger than I!)
Sorry for triplicate comments!
I really resent that y’all have turned me on to the joy of honey cowls and now you’ve moved on to Things I Cannot And Do Not Want To Knit. All honey cowl channel!
Colors like a white birch in winter, that sweater. Beautiful.
I hope the cubicle refer to a 3D knitting project.
Ann, where’s the picture of your outfit for the Downton party??
A virtual bouquet of flowers to Kay’s cubicle, along with my love and congratulations!
Well, I guess the teeny silver lining to Kay’s cube job is that she will really know and appreciate that knitting is not just “spozed” to be fun, it IS fun! Here’s to commute and evening and weekend knitting. (Oh, and invest some of your earnings into lots of OTT lights for that evening knitting…)
er, um–caaake? what CAKE? where? you knowww, it was my birthday the day before yesterday, so i AM entitled. to some cake, too. just point me in the right direction. ooohhh, i think i see candles burning over yonder……SAVE ME A ROSE!
LoveDiane
Girls, I am loving your recent return to regular postings. It’s such fun for us all! Bravo! AND, the Icelandic sweater is gorgeous – as is Donegal!
