Dear Knitter,

Happy Saturday!

It’s the MDK news of the week, month, and year, and it’s all we can talk about:

Jane is here!

Who’s Jane? She’s our brand-new, MDK-exclusive, DK-weight yarn. One hundred percent British wool, made in Yorkshire.

Of course, we had a Zoom party to celebrate. A good time was had by all—watch the recording here.

To see Jane knitted up into 15 of the most beautiful patterns out there, take a leisurely stroll through our fabulous Jane lookbook. It’s the ultimate Pattern Scout!

 A Giveaway! Enter by Monday

And finally, don’t miss this: the juiciest giveaway we’ve ever had. Five knitters are about to score their own batch of Jane yarn. Come find out how you might be one of them!

MDK Events Coming Soon

Two great virtual classes are coming up.

This coming Friday, a virtual workshop with the legendary Natalie Chanin will give you the keys to the kingdom of exquisite hand-stitching. Opportunities to learn with Natalie herself are rare, and we’re over the moon to offer this workshop. There’s still time to register: click here.

On October 11, learn intarsia with one of its great teachers, designer Florence Spurling. This virtual workshop features the beautifully manageable motifs of Florence’s stunning Elvan Shawl.

We’re offering a gorgeous kit, or you can opt to bring your own yarn and take the class by itself. Read all about it and sign up here.

Psst—Our summer sale is still going, with some choice bargains remaining. Head on over to our sale page, where you’ll find reductions up to 50 percent on things we love.

Meanwhile …

We had a big time on MDK this week.

She created the interiors behind her husband’s famous paintings—and invented Swedish style while she was at it. Mary Lou Egan took us to a Minneapolis exhibit on the rich creative vision of Karin Larsson.

Adrienne Martini recommends a riveting podcast that investigates a bizarre medical mystery—and the human brain.

Your Support Is Everything—Thank You!

At MDK, supporting and elevating the knitting life is all we think about, every single day. It’s vital—and easy—to support MDK!

When you shop with MDK, take a workshop, and share our content with your knitting friends, you’re also supporting the yarnmakers, artisans, teachers, and writers that we feature here. It’s a daily challenge to make our tiny business go, and we’re grateful to everyone who helps us do that. Thank you!

Questions? Email us anytime at hello@moderndailyknitting.com, and you’ll get a prompt personal response from a real live MDK person.

Stay healthy, take care of each other, and knit on.

Love,

Ann and Kay

PS Please forward this Snippets to a knitter friend—we appreciate it so much!

  • I would make the Halibut sweater first. While I think the original colorway is lovely, I am wondering if I could substitute aubergine for the marigold? Or if you think the contrast isn’t the best, I could do the Yorkshire with aubergine fish. Thanks so much; Jane looks amazing!
