Dear knitter,

Happy Saturday!

A quiet moment sounds good, doesn’t it? On March 28, at noon Eastern, we’ll be hosting a 90-minute knitting + meditation session with Suzan Colón. Suzan is a beloved MDK contributor and the author of Medknitation, a life-changing book about the ways to combine knitting and meditation.

When you sign up here, your order confirmation email will include a free download of the ebook edition of Medknitation, with 30 meditations.

As always with our virtual classes, this one will be recorded so you can watch and re-watch at your convenience.

Look Under Your Seat: You Get a Bolin Cardigan—and You Get a Bolin Cardigan!

The most popular knitalong of the MDK year, Bang Out a Sweater, is going on right now and runs throughout the month of February. Yes, we’re knitting an entire Bolin Cardigan during the shortest month of the year. (Working at your own pace is definitely encouraged, though!)

We have breaking news: at our grand finale workshop session on February 28, we’ll have a very special guest: Bolin’s designer, the extraordinary Norah Gaughan.

Read all about the knitalong here, and sign up for the three-part workshop with the great Lorilee Beltman here. You’ll receive links to the video recordings of the first two sessions right away, and you’ll be set for the final live session on February 28. The workshop is optional, but three sessions with this teacher is a wonderful opportunity.

Meanwhile…

We had a big time on MDK this week.

Your Valentine’s weekend will be sweeter with these five book recommendations from Jeania Ree V. Moore.

Tortoises and hares agree: journaling the Felix Ford way is a fun, life-affirming ride.

In a sea of puffer jackets, Clara Parkes stands out—and stands up—for the eternal chic of a wool coat.

Was she really investigating how Kidsilk Haze combines with MDK’s own Jane, or did Ann just want a long, stripey session of color play? (It’s a sumptuous combination of color and texture, all right!)

A great movie about the Vatican Super Bowl, aka the pageantry and drama of electing a new Pope.

A fond farewell to little Olive, MDK’s employee of the decade and Kay’s funny, furry sweater muse and model.

Your Support Is Everything—Thank You!

At MDK, making knitters happy is all we think about, every single day. If you love what we’re doing, it’s vital—and easy—to support MDK.

One great way, of course: join the MDK Society. And also, whenever you shop with MDK, sign up for a workshop, or share our content with others, you’re directly supporting the yarnmakers, artisans, teachers, and writers that we feature here. Thank you!

Questions? Email us anytime at hello@moderndailyknitting.com, and you’ll get a prompt response from a real live MDK person.

Stay healthy, take care of each other, and knit on.

Love,

Ann and Kay

PS Please forward this Snippets to a knitter friend—we appreciate it so much!

Learn Mosaic Knitting—With Ann Weaver!

We’re still floating on the vibes  from our mosaic knitting workshop with Ann Weaver. We had a great time together, and are off to amazing starts on the gorgeous Pines and Needles Shawl.

You can still join us: sign up here, and we’ll send you the link to the class recording in your order confirmation email. You can order the class and use your own yarn. Or you can order the class plus the bundle of (beautiful!) Plied yarn that Ann Weaver dyes herself—while supplies last.

Off to a Roaring Start

2025 is the year of a brand-new adventure: the MDK Society. The benefits of charter membership are many—and we will be adding more fun all year long.

Members save 10 percent on our wonderful virtual workshops, and in the MDK Shop, throughout 2025.

What we’re most excited about: virtual events and hangouts for Society members. Each month we’ll put on a new edition of the Snippets Show, featuring special guests and coming to you via Zoom, plus knit nights, the MDK Lounge, and more. This is the knitting community we’ve dreamed about.

Our first year is off to a great start, and we hope you’ll join us.

So far, our Snippets Show guests have been Arne and Carlos in January, and this past week: the one and only Franklin Habit, beaming in from his studio in Paris! The video recordings of our chats are available to all MDK Society members, indefinitely!

Take a moment to sign up now and take advantage of our introductory membership price. Thanks so much to everyone who’s signed up already.

More fun ahead!
