You’ve Got Snippets: February 8, 2025

Dear knitter,
Happy Saturday!
Ann dreamed it up—and now it’s a reality! On March 28, at noon Eastern, we’ll be hosting a 90-minute knitting + meditation session with Suzan Colón. Suzan is a beloved MDK contributor and the author of Medknitation, a life-changing book about the ways to combine knitting and meditation. When you sign up here, your order confirmation email will include a free download of the ebook edition of Medknitation.
As always with our virtual classes, this one will be recorded so you can watch and re-watch at your convenience.
About Yesterday Afternoon
We’re still floating on the fiber fumes from yesterday’s mosaic knitting workshop with Ann Weaver. We had a great time together, and made a solid start on the gorgeous Pines and Needles Shawl.
You can still join us: sign up here, and we’ll send you the link to the class recording in your order confirmation email. You can order the class and use your own yarn. Or you can order the class plus the bundle of (beautiful!) Plied yarn that Ann Weaver dyes herself.
Here We Go!
The most popular knitalong of the MDK year, Bang Out a Sweater, is going on now and runs through the month of February. Yes, we’re knitting an entire Bolin Cardigan during the shortest month of the year. Or not! We’re enjoying the ride, however long it takes.
Read all about the knitalong here, and sign up for the three-part workshop with the great Lorilee Beltman here. The workshop is optional, but three sessions with this extraordinary teacher is an incredible opportunity. There’s a reason Lorilee’s live classes sell out!
As always with an MDK knitalong: all yarns are welcome. We’d love to have you with us.
Meanwhile…
We had a big time on MDK this week.
A celebrated sweater knitter goes small, or: that time Dana Williams-Johnson knit a viral scarf.
In her latest Skill Builder, Kate Atherley explains the many meanings of the word right when it appears in a knitting pattern.
Can a seasoned knitting veteran enjoy making a plain stockinette rectangle? Ann is doing it (again), and loving it.
Kay may be up in New York, but she’s also behind the scenes at Nash Yarn Fest.
Salty, buttery, saucy: Sarah Ross is turning fridge flotsam into flavor-boosting staples.
We’d watch Alan Cumming in just about anything, including The Traitors.
Your Support Is Everything—Thank You!
At MDK, making knitters happy is all we think about, every single day. If you love what we’re doing, it’s vital—and easy—to support MDK.
One great way, of course: join the MDK Society. And also, whenever you shop with MDK, sign up for a workshop, or share our content with others, you’re directly supporting the yarnmakers, artisans, teachers, and writers that we feature here. Thank you!
Questions? Email us anytime at hello@moderndailyknitting.com, and you’ll get a prompt response from a real live MDK person.
Stay healthy, take care of each other, and knit on.
Love,
Ann and Kay
PS Please forward this Snippets to a knitter friend—we appreciate it so much!
Off to a Roaring Start

2025 is the year of a brand-new adventure: the MDK Society. The benefits of charter membership are many—and we will be adding more fun all year long.
Members save 10 percent on our wonderful virtual workshops, and in the MDK Shop, throughout 2025.
What we’re most excited about: virtual events and hangouts for Society members. Each month we’ll put on a new edition of the Snippets Show, featuring special guests and coming to you via Zoom, plus knit nights, the MDK Lounge, and more. This is the knitting community we’ve dreamed about.
Our first year is off to a great start, and we hope you’ll join us.
So far, our Snippets Show guests have been Arne and Carlos in January, and this past week: the one and only Franklin Habit, beaming in from his studio in Paris! The video recordings of our chats are available to all MDK Society members, indefinitely!
Take a moment to sign up now and take advantage of our introductory membership price. Thanks so much to everyone who’s signed up already.
More fun ahead!
