You’ve Got Snippets: June 3, 2023
Dear knitter,
Welcome to your Saturday!
It’s here! MDK Field Guide No. 24: Spark launched yesterday, and we cannot wait to knit these 5 intriguing designs by the amazing Olga Buraya-Kefelian with you.
We have admired Olga’s work for years. Everything she designs feels fresh and surprising—and so wearable. What we’ve learned from working with Olga on this Field Guide is another delightful surprise: how accessible this way of knitting is. Olga is just as gifted at writing a clear pattern as she is at thinking of new ways to combine knits and purls into something totally new.
We called this Field Guide Spark because Olga’s inventiveness has kindled a fire of knitting inspiration for us. It’s going to be a fantastic summer of playful knitting—and beautiful pieces to wear and share.

Meanwhile . . .
We had a big time on MDK this week.
Wow, friends—we’ve been bowled over by the response to MDK Summer Camp 2023. We’re looking forward to a fantastic virtual session with master teacher Lorilee Beltman on July 21. There are still a few spots available—truly just a few—before we have to declare the camp bus officially full. Reserve your seat—and your fun camp kit—here.
In his latest letter from Paris, Franklin Habit knits beautiful blocks while jumping over all roadblocks to fluency in French.
Should a county legislator cast on while casting votes? Adrienne Martini’s piece about knitting while elected generated a chorus of yeas and nays in the comments.
You’ll have this yummy springtime supper on the table in a matter of minutes, thanks to the latest bit of brilliance from Sarah Ross’s recipe file.
Who is Jessie Ware and why is DG Strong obsessed with her? Slide on over to this week’s Knit to This and find out.

Olga’s love of geometric stitch patterns is on full display in the Penrose Tote. The diamonds form a subtly dimensional texture, pleats almost. In two sizes, with two yarn options: Creative Linen and our exclusive Neighborhood Fiber Co Tote and Cuff Bundle. Find it all here.
