Dear knitter,

Happy Saturday!

What a difference a week makes. This Saturday’s agenda: all-day pajamas, snacks, and the soothing-est, most restorative knitting we can get our hands on.

Last Saturday was another kind of day altogether: Team MDK was running around the beautiful Nashville Fairgrounds with hundreds of happy knitters and 90+ beautiful vendor booths, blissed out of our minds, dodging raindrops (correction: rain buckets)—in other words, having a fabulous time.

Our first Nash Yarn Fest was a dream come true—thanks to you. We felt the full power of the kind, caring community of knitters from all over (30+ states, Canada, and the UK) that we are fortunate to know and serve. Our heartfelt thanks to every last one of you.

Read our recap here, and stay tuned for the announcement—soon!—of Nash Yarn Fest dates for next year. We cannot wait to ride this ride again, and we’d love to have you with us.

From the Show Floor to You

At Nash Yarn Fest we had the thrill of launching an exciting collaboration with the genius hand-dyers at Madelinetosh. Read the story of Atlas x Madelinetosh here.

Early response has been exciting! We hope you’ll take a break and spend time with our Atlas x Madelinetosh lookbook.

This Monday: We’re Zooming with Laura and Libby!

A free Zoom party! Join us on Monday, March 24 at noon Eastern to celebrate the arrival of Atlas x Madelinetosh. We’ll be getting into the world of Madelinetosh yarns and the possibilities for our new yarn. Sign up here and we’ll send you the Zoom link Monday morning.

Meanwhile…

We had a big time on MDK this week.

Patty Lyons has next-level solutions for those pesky yarn tails that resist the usual wrangling.

From Max Daniels, a new way to frame your springtime home refresh: pretend you’re moving!

And now for something completely different: crochet + Crocs + Paul Haesemeyer. (Kay is offering a prize to the first person to figure out a knit version in mitered squares.)

What happens when a knit-happy team member comes into an unlimited supply of yarn? A freak flag factory, that’s what!

Your Support Is Everything—Thank You!

At MDK, making knitters happy is all we think about, every single day. If you love what we’re doing, it’s vital—and easy—to support MDK.

One great way, of course: join the MDK Society. And also, whenever you shop with MDK, sign up for a workshop, or share our content with others, you’re directly supporting the yarnmakers, artisans, teachers, and writers that we feature here. Thank you!

Questions? Email us anytime at hello@moderndailyknitting.com, and you’ll get a prompt response from a real live MDK person.

Stay healthy, take care of each other, and knit on.

Love,

Ann and Kay

PS Please forward this Snippets to a knitter friend—we appreciate it so much!

Great Virtual Workshops Ahead

March 28: Medknitation: Virtual WorkShop with Suzan Colón

A 90-minute workshop with Suzan Colón, a wonderful Yoga and meditation instructor, author, and knitter/crocheter. We love her way of combining elements of traditional meditation with meditative knitting.

Your registration includes the ebook edition of Suzan’s book, MedKNITation, with 30 meditations for you to use after the workshop.

Check it out and sign up here.

April 11: Mending Made Easy: Virtual Workshop with Kate Atherley

With Kate Atherley we are in good hands. A veteran designer, teacher, knitter, and wearer of handknits, she’s seen it all, and she is ready to share no-nonsense mending techniques to save our knits. We’ll leave no longer intimidated by the holes being worn into our socks, because we can mend anything with ease.

It’s the Place to Be

Have you heard about the MDK Society? It’s the knitting community we’ve dreamed about, come to real (and virtual) life. Our charter year is off to a great start, and we hope you’ll join us.

The benefits of charter membership are many—and we will be adding more fun all year long. Members save 10 percent on our wonderful virtual workshops, and in the MDK Shop, throughout 2025.

What we’re most excited about: virtual events and hangouts for Society members. Each month we put on a new episode of the Snippets Show, plus knit nights, conversation in the MDK Society Lounge forum, and more.

Our Snippets Show guests so far: Arne and Carlos, Franklin Habit, and Natalie Chanin—the video recordings of our chats are available to all MDK Society members, indefinitely.

Our special guest at the next Snippets Show on Wednesday, April 9 will be the one and only Jeanette Sloan, star judge and mentor on the BBC/Britbox Series Make It at Market, and featured designer for MDK Field Guide No. 15.

It’s not every day we get to have a chinwag with a recipient of the British Empire Medal!

Make Your Own Field Guide Bundle

Here’s a fun thing: we have 28 Field Guides in our collection—delectable, small excursions into all sorts of beautiful knitting from a who’s who of designers.

Order 3 or more Field Guides, and you’ll save 15%.

It’s conceivable to make a bundle of all 28, just sayin. Have a peek now.
