You’ve Got Snippets: November 4, 2023
Dear knitter,
Welcome to your Saturday!
It’s been so fun sharing the MDK Holiday Shop with you this week. At launch, we’re both giddy and nervous. Will you love it?
See for yourself! Take a gander at our magnificent lookbook. Just click on the image.
Nashville Awaits You: Two Spots Left!
On December 9 and 10, legendary indigo artisan and teacher Jan Quarles is coming to MDK World Headquarters for two days of in-depth indigo dyeing workshops. In small, hands-on classes, we’ll dive into the techniques of shibori and katazome.
All the details and registration here. We’ve got two spots left—so if a deep blue weekend is calling to you, don’t sleep on it!
The Night Before Indigo: Holiday Open House at MDK
On Friday afternoon, December 8, we’ll be opening the doors of our beloved Nashville World Headquarters for festive shopping and togetherness, just in time for the holidays.
The team is hanging the gnome garlands and firing up the L’il Smokies crockpot for this one! This event is open to all. $15 holds your place and will be credited back to purchases. Get your ticket here.
Bonus fun: Come hang with us, then head over to Porter Flea, Nashville’s stupendous maker market with 250 superb vendors. Their festive preview night starts December 8 at 6:00 PM, tickets here. (They sell out early, so don’t snooze.) Ann will share her favorite makers.
Meanwhile . . .
We had a big time on MDK this week.
On Monday we had a grand time on Zoom, leafing through the Holiday Shop lookbook. If you missed it, you can watch our Hour Of Power FunTimes Holiday Showcase Of Tasteful And Useful Items right here.
Patty Lyons always delivers, but this time she outdid herself. She gave us the keys to the superpower we never knew we needed: how to purl backwards. Is there a video? You bet there is! You’re going to want to bookmark this one.
The road to calm may involve a small set of watercolors. Ann tells why.
A Henley shirt and gusseted leggings have never looked so cute. Erika Knight has reinvented the layette set for the thoroughly modern baby.
Alert the media: our favorite bespoke bag, the Knitter’s Tote, now in dashing vermilion.
Mad, mad skills. MDK’s own Natasha Andrews made her Atlas Insider debut with the most amazing show-and-tell we’ve ever seen.
Remember to enter our giveaway by midnight tomorrow night. We have KnitOvation Stitch Dictionary, Andrea Rangel’s brand-new book, for three lucky commenters.
As ever, we thank you all for supporting MDK through thick and thin. Every morning, we bring the best writers, teachers, and knitting to you, free of charge. This is only possible because of your purchases from the MDK Shop—thank you!
Questions? Email us anytime at hello@moderndailyknitting.com, and you’ll get a prompt personal response from a real live MDK person.
Stay healthy, take care of each other, and knit on.
Love,
Ann and Kay

The Most Delicious Treats
To give or (really) to keep for yourself. A bundle of chocolate from our favorite Nashville chocolate maker, Olive and Sinclair. The brand-new 2024 MDK Calendar Tea Towel picturing knitters doing their thing. And the best peanut butter, like, ever.
Is there anything happier than a Joji bag?
There wasn’t a box to add comments on the giveaway page?
I’m too old to remember a show and tell but, I had to do a book report and presentation in 8th grade science class. My mom showed and bred Great Pyrenees dogs, so I did my report on the breeding process with pictures. The teacher never gave me back the report. I guess he liked the pictures
Try again–we had turned them off due to spam attack last week, but now they’re back on.
I took my grandma’s pizzelle(an Italian cookie pressed on a waffle iron type machine) iron to class and made her pizzelles and gave them to my class mates. It was a big hit!
