You’ve Got Snippets: September 23, 2023
Dear knitter,
Welcome to your Saturday!
We had an amazing Zoom visit with Dee Hardwicke this week, celebrating MDK Field Guide No. 25: Botanica. Watch for our MDK post tomorrow with the complete video of our conversation.
Dee’s energy is wildly contagious. Inspired by her legendary swatching practice, we’ve been playing with our own Atlas stashes and swatching all the things!
If you’re just joining us, you can read all about Field Guide No. 25: Botanica here. And get your own copy here.
And—of course—there’s a lookbook! Click here for Lookbook 25
Dive into this shoppable tour of Field Guide No. 25: Botanica, where you’ll find yarn bundles for all six of Dee’s designs.
There’s an epic knitalong coming soon—look for that announcement on Monday. And to help you get ready:
Join Us for a Virtual Workshop
To show us the way to Dee’s colorwork genius, we’ve turned to one of the knitting world’s most beloved and sought-after teachers, Lorilee Beltman. She’ll be leading a brand-new virtual class for both newcomers and old hands at color.
Please join us on Friday, October 13, from noon-3:00 p.m. Eastern, for a virtual workshop. In a three-hour session on Zoom, we’ll dive into stranded colorwork knitting. The project? Dee’s endearing Treeline Cowl. As always with MDK workshops, the class kit is deluxe, a treat in itself. Register here while spaces are still available—they’re going fast—and we’ll get the kit in the mail to you right away.
Meanwhile . . .
We had a big time on MDK this week.
We stretched our legs and took a walking tour through all six projects in MDK Field Guide No. 25: Botanica. Lace up your hiking boots!
Our first stop is a poem for your shoulders, the jaunty Blossom Stripe Shawl.
Looking for a quick project to warm up (or jump start) your stranded colorwork skills? Cast your eyes upon the Treeline Cowl, Flora Armwarmers, and Climbing Vine Mitts.
For lovers of subtlety (and neutrals), it’s Dee’s most distilled vision yet: the Autumn Garden Stole.
Our showstopper: the Cottage Throw, a modern heirloom in a drop-dead gorgeous palette.
Just in time for the weekend, Max Daniels popped in with a high-intensity interval workout—for your home. Five minutes and back to knitting? Sign us up.
In this week’s Atlas Insider, DG Strong writes us a permission slip to indulge in that new-hobby impulse—and the best set of watercolors he’s ever used.
Remember to enter this week’s giveaway by midnight Central time Sunday night. The prize? Bursting with botanical color, it’s a Climbing Vines Mitt Bundle and a copy of Field Guide No. 25: Botanica, hot off the press.
As ever, we thank you for supporting this beloved, handcrafted enterprise. Every morning, we bring the best in knitting to you, fresh and hot. This is made possible by your purchases from the MDK Shop—thank you!
We urge you to support what you love, and have a great shopping experience while you’re at it. Thank you for keeping us going.
Questions? Email us anytime at hello@moderndailyknitting.com, and you’ll get a prompt personal response from a real live MDK person.
