Dear Knitter,

Happy Saturday!

The biggest thing we’ve ever done is coming together.

Nash Yarn Fest is a gathering of knitters, crocheters, and fiber fans, coming March 14-15, 2025. We’re feeling so excited! Here’s our preview of all the events.

We’ve designed NYF so you can attend in a number of ways—everything from a quick day of fun to a fantastic four-night getaway full of special moments.

It’s the first time we’ve offered a deluxe, complete MDK getaway in Nashville. We’re working with Patti Odinak, whose trips for knitters and crocheters are superbly crafted.

And we’re over the moon that beloved designers Arne and Carlos will be coming straight from Norway to teach a workshop, give a talk, and visit with everybody at NYF.

Tickets go on sale Tuesday, October 1 at noon Eastern time. Set an alarm and head to NashYarnFest.com on Tuesday to register for the events you’d like to attend.

A Visit with the Charming Florence Spurling

Oh, it was a great Zoom chat the other day with the teacher/designer of our next virtual workshop. Florence has such skills, is so inventive.

On October 11, learn intarsia with Florence Spurling. This virtual workshop features the beautifully manageable motifs of Florence’s stunning Elvan Shawl.

We’re offering a gorgeous kit of Kokon merino yarns, including a set of perfect little miniskeins. (Florence’s friend Michelle is the color genius behind this brand of South African wool, dyed in the Netherlands.) Or you can opt to bring your own yarn and take the class by itself. Read all about it and sign up here.

Reminder: Subscribers Save!

With MDK Field Guide No. 28: Renewal we have a hit on our hands—we’re so glad to hear the warm welcome it’s received from knitters.

Norah Gaughan, the best in the business, has given us three simply elegant cardigans—plus two smashing accessories. Get your print/ebook or ebook-only copy here.

For a blast of inspiration, watch the recording of our jolly conversation with the one and only, delightful Norah Gaughan.

Meanwhile…

We had a big time on MDK this week.

Cause for utter joy: Clara Parkes returns to MDK with a new column, Life with Wool. When a best-selling author invites us to join her on a journey, we’re climbing on that woolly bandwagon. Welcome, Clara!

Dana Williams-Johnson cheerfully sets the record straight on what makes a great cardigan.

It is NOT procrastination,” Ann said defensively, dreaming about Pressed Flowers sweater colors.

Your Support Is Everything—Thank You!

At MDK, supporting and elevating the knitting life is all we think about, every single day. It’s vital—and easy—to support MDK.

When you shop with MDK, sign up for our workshops, or share our content with your knitting friends, you’re also supporting the yarnmakers, artisans, teachers, and writers that we feature here. It’s a daily challenge to make our tiny business go, and we’re grateful to everyone who helps us do that. Thank you!

Questions? Email us anytime at hello@moderndailyknitting.com, and you’ll get a prompt response from a real live MDK person.

Stay healthy, take care of each other, and knit on.

Love,

Ann and Kay

PS Please forward this Snippets to a knitter friend—we appreciate it so much!

A Win-Win for your Knitting—and for MDK!

We hear from knitters who read Snippets every Saturday—in their PJs! Putting together Snippets (sometimes in PJs ourselves) is our favorite weekly project.

We never take your readership for granted, and we never clutter up the posts you love with ads.

That’s extraordinary in this overstimulated age.

We need your help to keep MDK free of charge, and free of ads. One of the best ways to show support is collecting the MDK Field Guides. Check out this nifty way to build your own bundle of these little books at a very nice savings.
