Nancy Marchant

Nancy Marchant is the world’s foremost expert on brioche knitting. She is the author of five books on the subject: Knitting Brioche, Knitting Fresh Brioche, Leafy Brioche, Knitting Brioche Lace, and Tuck Stitches.

Her devotion to the stitch starting in the 1970s, when she spotted a man wearing a blue-and-white sweater. It was worked in such an intriguing stitch pattern that for the next few days, she camped out, hoping to see him again so she could study his sweater. For three days straight, he passed by at eleven o’clock, and Nancy took notes, never actually speaking to him. After a glimpse of that delicious knitted fabric, Nancy tracked down exactly what the unusual stitch was.
