MOSS FIELD THROW
Designed by Hélène Magnússon
Field Guide no. 26: mOSS
Specs & Details
This unique throw captures the look of a densely mossed-over lava field with remarkable realism. The techniques are elemental: It is knit in three strips, and delicate tracings of a circle and a witches’ ring are melded in using a faux intarsia technique that is ease itself. The back ground is worked in changing stripes composed of one strand each of Plotulopi and Love Story held together, and a single strand of Plotulopi is picked up and dropped as needed to work the simple charted designs. At the end of the knitting, if you haven’t given in to the temptation of wearing the soft strips as scarves, they are joined with mattress stitch. No other finishing required.
