We hear you: sometimes you want longer needle tips, sometimes you want shorter tips. With our favorite Tulip interchangeable needles, we’ve got them both now!

Each interchangeable set includes

11 pairs of bamboo needle tips: US 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10.5, 11, 13 in either the long (5″/12 cm) or short (3.75″/9.5 cm) needle tip length
3 cables: 16″ (40 cm), 24″ (60 cm), 32″(80 cm)
1 needle gauge/ruler with a built-in yarn cutter
1 cable connector
4 cable stoppers (long set) or 6 cable stoppers (short set)
2 tapestry needles
1 gauge ruler with built-in yarn cutter

The long set comes in a gray zipper case, the short set comes in a cream zipper case.

Why We Love These Needles So Dang Much

There’s a reason we’ve sold hundreds of sets of these beautiful, functional interchangeable needles from Japan—knitters love them.

Every knitter can use a set of interchangeable needles. It’s the ultimate convenience to have a full range of needle sizes available, plus the ability to lengthen or shorten the cable as needed. Interchangeables are great for travel, and they’re also handy at home. (No leaving the knitting couch to rummage amongst the needles!)

Swatching on multiple needle sizes, holding large or small groups of stitches: it’s all easier with a set of interchangeable needles, cables, and stoppers.

Incredibly, with 40 years plus of knitting experience between the two of us, neither of us owned a set of interchangeables. The reason: anxiety! If you’ve ever experienced a needle tip separating from a cable loaded up with stitches, you’ll understand. Ain’t nobody got time for that!

So when we first laid eyes on Tulip’s beautiful interchangeable needles, we had two questions. Our first question: do they come unscrewed? Our second question: Do you have to use a special tool to prevent them from coming unscrewed?

With Tulip interchangeable needles, the answer to both questions is a resounding no. You screw them on, and they stay screwed on until you unscrew them.

The needle tips twist freely at the cable join, making these needles especially easy on the wrists.

Tip: If you don’t know which needle tip length is the one for you (long or short), order one set of replacement tips in the long length, plus one cable in the length of your choosing. Try them out for a while and see if you love them as much as we do, and consider whether you like the long length or would prefer a slightly shorter needle tip. Then you’ll be ready to treat yourself to a whole set with confidence.
